Re: the agreement.
I've got a life outside RM and 7 to 3 doesn't bother me, I'm happy to be in a job and full time. Get real, lots of people don't have a job at present. I've worked nightshift before and hated it although the money was good. I get fed up with the moaning minnies who keep carping on about how bad this job is, if you don't like it GET ANOTHER ONE. Yes, the job hasn't got easier and management is crap but do the job by the book and finish on your time. There are a lot worse jobs out there and I've done some of them!benn2261 wrote:hi does anyone know some of the fudamentals of the new agreement is there any payrise included at all lol.all i have heard is they want delivery staff to work 7 t 3 including saturdays.seems very unfair if you want a life outside royal mail.

Totally agree Prowler, I am sick to the back teeth listening to whingers, I too have worked elsewhere and know what life is like in the real world, In our office we have just had a re-sign for the weelend review, I was totally disgusted at the attitude of some of my colleagues, everybody was guaranteed a duty but the minority that did nothing but back-bite, bitching, crying, name calling made me and the vast majority of us embarrassed to be associated with them, if the members of the public could see how these individuals with full time jobs and guatanteed OT which could result in them earning nearly £30,000 a year acted. there would be very little sympathy.prowler wrote:I've got a life outside RM and 7 to 3 doesn't bother me, I'm happy to be in a job and full time. If they think times are difficult now, wait till the tories get in, Network will be sold off, the MC's are reduced by half and all the DO's will be franchised to enable them to sell the rest off!!!!!!
Bring on the good times.

Re: the agreement.
Yeah, I've worked outside RM and yes, it can be bad. But I joined RM because of the hours I would be working (Mon - Sat, 05.15-10.15, 6 days a week part time). If I had wanted a job where I worked till 3.00pm on a Saturday, then I would have applied for a different job. I have done almost 10 years now and our terms and conditions have got worse every single year. So yes, I am a whinger and I will continue to be one, especially when the changes are not being made to improve the service but to maximise the managements bonuses and cut staffing levels. If you don't like it, well you can always get another job.papa elf wrote:Totally agree Prowler, I am sick to the back teeth listening to whingers, I too have worked elsewhere and know what life is like in the real world, In our office we have just had a re-sign for the weelend review, I was totally disgusted at the attitude of some of my colleagues, everybody was guaranteed a duty but the minority that did nothing but back-bite, bitching, crying, name calling made me and the vast majority of us embarrassed to be associated with them, if the members of the public could see how these individuals with full time jobs and guatanteed OT which could result in them earning nearly £30,000 a year acted. there would be very little sympathy.prowler wrote:I've got a life outside RM and 7 to 3 doesn't bother me, I'm happy to be in a job and full time. I agree entirely ,If I'd have wanted to work till 3 on Saturdays then I would have got a job in a shop some years ago. Also I can't understand what benefit part time at RM would have for anyone.I thought part time hours where worked to allow people to start at the same time as everyone else but finish earlier not start later and finsh at the same time. Most part timers do PT for a reason mainly to work around family for example.

Re: the agreement.
well quite a mixed bag of views, we are all whingers lol. why because we want a bit of normality in our lives.everyone know royal mail is changing but not too extreme and why are we lucky to have a job then.nobody else wants the job do they.
how long do they last its a crap organisation
a lot of us have stayed loyal to royal mail only to be treated very shabbily.

Re: the agreement.
Great thinking mate, what are you going to do, take on RM and the government by yourself ? I'm a union member, support the union, work in a 'strong' office and do the job properly. Not much else I can do really! Perhaps you have some better ideas, I'd be interested to hear them. If they move my start time forward an hour, I'll not be happy but I can live with that.spoodoo wrote:People are whinging because day by day they are running the r mail into the ground . Change is coming like it or not and you can either negotiate it to your advantage or dig your head in the sand. Sorry but I have seen hundreds of people on my delivery lose their jobs over the last few years and most would be happy to have a full time job of any sort. Sorry to repeat myself but at the end of the day if you don't like the terms and conditions, get yourself another job.

Re: the agreement.
well prowler thank you for your views,i actually work in a mail centre and not on delivery.i have done over 30 years im not opposed to change don`t get me wrong, but i really do think the cuts that are being made are in the wrong places.especially on the frontline i have travelled round delivery office once worked in them a long time ago now and can see it has become a job that is becoming impossible.
it`s east to say get another job but yes it is hard to find them these days.
even in mail centre you have a ridilicus amount of management who should not have a job they have nothing really to do,what you need is a balance when making thes cuts and make them in the right places.

Re: the agreement.
So with this argument ultimately at some point you allow RM to change the T&Cs without opposition and when ever they want .prowler wrote: Sorry to repeat myself but at the end of the day if you don't like the terms and conditions, get yourself another job.
My personal view is that if they wish to change things then the should work WITH their most important asset (Their workforce) and make changes with agreement.
If they gain an agreement and the voting membership pass it then I agree we should accept and move on. However, that happened under the P&M07 agreement and RM played us for chumps. If the Union had not made a stand and people had left as you recommend we WOULD be in a far worse position than we are now. For instance we would not be looking at a pay rise this year, or a SWW, or taking weight of the shoulder. I don't like some of the things that are mooted for this agreement but at least we are having a say, and that was caused by whingers and people not happy with their T&Cs and treatment, and long may they moan IMHO.
BTW whingers who don't support strikes and vote for an agreement they have not fully understood the implications of, or even those who don't vote deserve what they get, but if you whinge, complain, organise, support the CWU, vote when needed, and make sure you understand an agreement before passing judgement, then moan as much as you want after all we do live in a supposed DEMOCRACY.

The term double standard, coined in the early 1950s, refers to any set of principles containing different provisions for one group of people than for another. VOTE.... fcuk it whats the point
