Re: Wireless Door Bells
Had special for one lady and pressed door bell . She opened door in foul mood saying that I had woken her baby up by ringing bell twice. I said that I had only pressed the bell once, but she was insistant and said that the bell had gone ding dong. So I asked her what had woken the baby, the ding or the dong. She wasnt amused. Silly cow had left the baby in the hall in the pram, so anyone knocking the door would have woken the baby.

ah, but sometimes you can press really, really hard, and nothing happens. then I would blame the door furniture. a bigger knocker perhapsdvbuk55 wrote:I have one - and it really is all in the finger, you need the magic finger, once the magic finger engages the little button you have to press really hard.

Re: Wireless Door Bells
I always ring & knock, you can be stood there forever otherwise. Have had a few people moaning at me for knocking on the door because their door bells apparently work.
Yes I always press the bell and then follow up with a knock, half the time you cannot hear any bell, so I assume it is not working. One or two turnips have complained though. One that I was pressing the bell too hard (maybe he meant too long), another that I should only ring the bell once... maybe I shouldn't make any noise at all and try and contact them telepathically about yet another 2010 packet unable to get through a 1935 letterbox.

Re: Wireless Door Bells
Like everyone else, I ring and knock, unless I hear a very clear and loud ring from the bell.
The other thing to bear in mind - and I speak from the experience of my own wireless door bell - is that the sound doesn't carry like a traditional bell. You could hear our old one anywhere in the house, even the garden if the back door was open. But our first wireless one couldn't be heard upstairs, so we eventually replaced it with one that came with two receivers - a portable one in the living room, which can be moved wherever we want, and a plug-in one on the landing.
I got moaned at by someone recently for ringing his bell 'too loud'...
That's a new one on me!

I always ring and if I can't hear the bell I knock on the door.
I never touch the glass but I deliver to houses with some of the most beautiful art nouveau stained glass the West Coast has to offer.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
