Re: Park and loop...
Well I did love it when I first saw it but as I have tried to point out to the truth/dingo telling the members not to entertain changes etc etc is a bit bloody late 6 months on when they have been agreed and implemented because the union sat on it's hands and when asked at Div level was told to go ahead - then to be accused of being weak and not toeing the linefishtank wrote:Dvb is gonna love this Daz.

Not bolting two duties together - that was the first thing they did, no revision etc etc etc
And some say I am over critical of the union.

Aye
It really does read like the exact opposite of what dvbuk55 has had to tell us of park and loop at his D.O.

Re: Park and loop...
In fairness to the union blokes who agreed the park and loop they hadn't seen the LTB, obviously, so the bolting of two duties seemed logical at the time. Plus the packets from the two deliveries, large packets from another delivery which isn't park and loop, then the tracked appeared, plus the businesses from the bulk duties which disappeared on park and loop and you have overload.Big Daz wrote:Aye

My advice would be to make sure that the park and loop duty is designed specifically for park and loop, that there are two sets of keys per van, that the duties are not overloaded with parcels nor made to carry out work NOT specific to that duty, that both operatives are drivers, both can then move the vehicle when necessary, and even if there is a non-driver he still needs a key to get in the van whilst waiting and to have a break.
TBH this could work if it was organised properly, unfortunately RM are looking for greater savings than the system allows for and expects too much in the scheduled duty time.

There will probably have to be a loop for 9am specials or a standalone van duty otherwise the 9am specials will fail alot

Re: Park and loop...
You are right, we send a special run out about 7.30, in addition some of the tracked items need to be sent out because there are not enough PDAs to service the bulk duties and the Park and loop - there are just 7 spare and 14 park and loop duties - I won't bore you with the details but it's a pain in the ar*e juggling them about every day.SpacePhoenix wrote:There will probably have to be a loop for 9am specials or a standalone van duty otherwise the 9am specials will fail alot

Re: Park and loop...
they planned delivery span is 4.30 hours fact the only thing the planning team are waiting for is the door 2 door part into work load that will put a spanner in the works if we hold out for door 2 door into work load

Lapsing could work if it was organised properly. In fact the whole business could work if it was organised properly.dvbuk55 wrote: TBH this could work if it was organised properly, unfortunately RM are looking for greater savings than the system allows for and expects too much in the scheduled duty time.
The problems start when you have an ignorant, failed postman in charge of the DO,whose only interest is finishing at 9.30 on a Saturday, with a rep whose only interest is finishing at 9.35 on a Saturday and the pair of them don't give a monkey's about anything or anyone else.
One ensures he gets his bonus, the other gets an easy duty.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Park and loop...
Hmmmm - this is the problem of locally negotiated agreements of course. If the infrastructure is rigid enough then anything outside the parameters set by the agreement can obviously be questioned BUT that was the intention of the 2007 agreement and look at the state of us now!clashcityrocker wrote:Lapsing could work if it was organised properly. In fact the whole business could work if it was organised properly.dvbuk55 wrote: TBH this could work if it was organised properly, unfortunately RM are looking for greater savings than the system allows for and expects too much in the scheduled duty time.

Re: Park and loop...
Old bloke at our place, late fifties went to see the DOM and said whats he gona do he cant drive, and DOM said he`ll have to transfer to the mail centre and do nights on the sequencing machines - pmsl - he doesnt know I also cant drive and im only gona mention it when he gives me the keys![]()
At risk of being pedantic, he shouldn't just give you the keys. Unless things have changed since I became a driver 13 years ago, anyone who drives will need a medical and changeover training...
