Tell me, how can the union justify the staff losing approx £60 per strike day, and killing the business in the process ? Whats it for ? some extra littlepittance on top of what we get at the moment ? quote]

it isn`t just about the money, where i live i am on a very good wage although i would gladly welcome a bigger pay increase. it is more about all the strings rm want to attach to the deal like team working, later starts, monthly pay, more households for a flat rate etc in return for a 2.5% increase when managers get £40 million in bonuses , widescreen tv`s and say there is no money to give us more. that is what we are fighting against.

it will be a hard fight but we must all stick together otherwise most of us on here probably wont have jobs in the future.

They do not sign up, their association gets told what they are getting.

I dunno if there's any truth in this, but I heard the managers union (Unite, I think?) might be striking over pay and job cuts soon... ?

Unite warns of threat to the public postal service26 June 2007

Unite (Amicus/CMA section) is extremely concerned that both the Royal Mail Group (RMG) and CWU seem to be locked into a conflict that in a short while could destroy the public postal service and the livelihood of the entire RMG workforce.

All parties agree that RMG needs to change, modernise and develop automated processes. The point of disagreement appears to be how to take this forward. The whole situation is compounded by the inability of Royal Mail to develop and elaborate a clear strategy to address change in the future and reward its staff fairly.

Paul Reuter, Unite National Officer said: "Unite are calling for both sides to urgently get together to seek a resolution to this dispute. To facilitate this Royal Mail will need to move from its intractable and intransigent position. We are not a disinterested party and have 11,000 members employed within the group. We cannot simply stand aside while a serious dispute between Royal Mail and the CWU goes ahead that can only damage the business.

"We also call upon the parties, including the Government as the principle shareholder, to develop jointly a strategy that ensures Royal Mail will secure the public postal service, provide jobs for workers and for the service to be provided at an affordable price.â€

I don't think you could include managers as part of the workforce by any stretch of the imagination. Wouldn't they actually have to do some work first?!

When I say I have responsibilities outside work and cant complete my duty within the time they insist that I must and put pressure on me to complete it.

When a member of someone's immediate family dies and the local DOM says he can only attend the funeral if they can get cover.

When as part of the pay deal they want us to be flexible in our working practices but don't appear to want explain why or gives us sufficient notice.

When they offer a pay rise with 22 conditions which we must accept to get the below inflation pay rise.

When the say the want to remove D2D payments, then change it so we are paid for the first 3 and can deliver up to 5. (I know its been dropped but they will try it again)

When they want to remove election payments.

When they want later starts but don't seem to want to explain it fully.

When they make national agreements and then throw them out of the window because they don't agree with it.

When they refuse to negotiate with the union.

When the say that the strike was patchy when although not 100% it was strong.

When they say we are 25 % overpaid and 40% under worked.

When they offer us a 50/50 share in savings but we have no input and the targets seem to change.

When we get a 92p per week bonus for all the savings we made during Q1 - Q3 last year.

When they don't release the accounts while we are carrying out IA.

I could go on but is that enoough.

Do they imagine they are performing some important task like nurses or firefighters do? I hope these wasters do go on strike. Not that anyone would notice if they did apart from the cleaner who has to brew up for them every half hour.

In what way are they treating you disrespectfully?
Maybe as a Dom you dont get rung up if you have gone sick after five minuets since you ranging and asked if you can sort for twenty minuets or have a stage one delivered to your door by a driver and asked to sign it and give it him back thats the sort of respect our dom shows us
