I always press all doorbells even if there are 2 or 3. If I don't hear it or a reaction from dog then I knock too. You should bear in mind that not all doorbells work via sound. I had a customer who was deaf and she had a buzzer in her pocket which vibrated like a phone when the doorbell was pressed.

Also I don't knock gently - I make it a real rat-a-tat.

Before I leave a P739 I always try the doorhandle and about 1 in 4 times the door is unlocked.

I've done that before and the door has opened straight into their front room

The one that always gets me is when you ring the door bell (usually the wireless rubber button type) it obviously doesn't work so you knock the door, then the householder comes out with a scowl "did you not see the doorbell".....I say ..."yes I rung it"....They then try it themselves and say..."Oh...it was working"...then shut the door in your face. :arrrghhh

A few times I've had people coming to the door thinking it was the bailiffs :dance as long as they hear me I don't care! Got sick and tired of the same crap being spouted out about doorbells or not knocking so I make sure they hear me knocking everytime!

I always ring all of the bells (a few of my drops have 3) and bang on the door. Dont knock this time of year, cold knuckles, so I bang on the door/glass with my hand.

One fella has had a go at me for knocking because his glass was 'specially ordered' Like f**k it was, some people will complain about anything.

Knocked, rang 2 bells. Knocked again. Wrote card, getting soaked all the while.
Going to car I hear, "Oi!"
Go back to house, guy say's "Which bell did you ring?" placing his hand over one...
"Both", I replied, "and knocked." ( Think he thought I was from the Stevie Wonder/Ray Charles school of Postal Workers.)
Plonker...

I've got an aerosol air horn.

Shove it through the letter box, and let rip.

Usually gets them to open the door sharpish.

I use a similar method but without the air horn but you do need an aerosol as well. :Very Happy

I ignore doorbells and knock loudly instead. If anyone ever says "My doorbell works" I just tell them that most don't!
