I agree working to rule would crush Royal mail, it has been brought up at many meetings but never followed through.
You tell me how to 90% enforce it like the strike action did and we could all do it

If the union members can go on strike without thinking twice about it, then why don't they feel like they can work to rule ? By doing so, it would hit Royal Mail very hard. I'm all for working to rule, bring it on guys, to be honest if the Union balloted for work to rule instead of strike, i bet they'd get a much higher response, and also more people willing to participate.

i'm not paid enough to deliver letters let alone make serious managment decisions.it's not a question of what we would do,we are not employed to make those decisions.

I've actuallt been on rural deliveries for the past 7 years and town deliveries for 3 before that.

The problem is that not enough people do work to rule to make any difference to the mail, you know, come back to time, start next day from where you finished the day before, seat belts on all the time, walk up and down paths, instead of cutting accross gardens, just simple things like that would have much more impact than any of the other tried and tested methods.

Got to agree with you there as most of my office are still coming in early, using their cars, etc...however I do feel we have to make a stand against not only the insulting pay 'rise' but also, and more importantly amongst Postal workers but little reported to the public, all the strings they want to attach.
I don't know what other office's experiences with 'bonus schemes' are. but we, in a small office (of around 30) have seen little of anything of any bonuses even though we haven't missed a target for as long as I can remember (okay, maybe that's only 2 weeks ago, but that aside... ). There is no trust in such schemes within our office and I imagine the same is to be said elsewhere.
Royal Mail seem to be digging their heels in. We must stand together or fall as one....cliche, maybe, but I don't really care!
