Not so obvious I am afraid. When I started after I had been trained I was informed that it does not matter if I have not done the duty before as an experienced postie I should still be able to do it blind.

At my DO it happens quite regularly that staff are put on duties they don't know, however my own manager is more realistic and it rarely happens in his section.

I'm not saying it suits me, and I can see that the system is open to abuse, IE being on different duties every day and never doing what you are meant to be for weeks on end. However, in DOM-speak, I'm a squad member, and should be prepared to play out of position now and again for the benefit of the team (!)

Are you peejay?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Correct. The one who had us having sleepless nights wondering if we measured up, needing psychological help in case we found ourselves wanting, feeling ashamed of our shortcomings, those long posts which made Tolstoy's work seem like the Dandy ...................... can't wait. ;liar
