Back in the "good old days" there was a cut off point for wearing summer attire (Shorts and short sleeved shirts) during the winter you were also supposed to wear your tie, as you could only get away with not wearing it during the summer! I seem to remember it was early October till early May.

Some posties wear shorts all year round because they have lots of blocks of flats on their walk and get hot travelling up and down stairs whilst on duty, others because they are drivers and constantly in and out of nice warms vans. One of our young posties was told that wearing shorts in this weather 'was not common sense' when challenged why he was being singled out as opposed to 3 other long term (and considerably larger) males, the manager in question shut up smartly. I wore mine the next day to show some solidarity. Maybe you could ask others in your office to do the same??

The remaining short wearers at this time of year are the swathes of clowns who wear shorts all-year round so they can get into the Courier and have their photo taken in full uniform ( including obligatory High Viz and I.D badge) a top of Machu Picchu in Peru holding up their copy of the Courier, in that ever so nonchalant manner :)

Here's a picture of Cyril from Buttfcrack, Dorset proudly reading his Courier atop Peru's Machu Picchu - Cyril admits to being the zany and wacky practical joker in his rural office and wears his shorts year round as part of a Charity drive to rescue sexually abused hamsters. He wins £5 in vouchers for his local High Street Woolworths.

If people want to wear shorts - let them.
If people want to wear short-sleeved shirts - let them
If people want to have short hair - let them.
Who let the fascist fashion police on here anyway?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Exactly. Why are some people getting their long trousers in a twist over this?

Theres a guy in my office who wears shorts all year  , he thinks it's cool (I would say very cold this time of year :nana ) So many members of the public comment to other members of staff he must be mad :left:

Every one to their own, must admit he looks ridiculous this time of year

I seem to remember the Courier article saying that some delivery posties wear shorts in the snow
because they don't get soaking wet trouser legs.

Just to be contrary:

Who wears long trousers all year round?

I've got RM shorts but haven't worn them, even in the scorching hot summer (both days).

That makes even less sense.
