Re: Regarding Long Weekends
I am a reserve (for my sins) and have now reached the grand total of 25 walks in 22 months.
I don't complain ; although it is a bit of a pain that I don't really know more that half of them well.
The subject of long weekends really pissed me off. So, I went to the DOM and the Line Manager and siad ' I am entitled to one long weekend in six; so lets see it happen.'
It happened and still happens. I would not be fobbed with the 'luck of the draw crap'
You have to stand your ground. And you will win
Regards
Paul

Thanks for your reply Paul...........Very encouraging to hear that. It's just a shame that I have to go down this channel.
Believe me I will to be treated like all the other postmen/women in my office. : - )

The sad thing is that you should not have to!!! It's (part of mine) should be part of your contract. The local managers will try and fob you off; but it is your right.hampshireman wrote:I am a reserve (for my sins) and have now reached the grand total of 25 walks in 22 months.

As I've mentioned earlier on in this thread that a grievance is actually in place with my manager and a decision or a reply has to be make within 5 working days from today other wise a stage 2 form which is in the post from HR has to be filled out.
Have mentioned this situation to our Union Rep and he basically put his hand up and said " Nothing I can do, its doesn't work in this office" and walked off.
What are we paying our Union exactly for?!?!?
My stage 2 grievance has now been passed on to another office and to another manager for him/her to assist my case.
Lets hope its all good news.
Will keep you all informed on my progress.

Re: Regarding Long Weekends
I get told my day off on the monday ( well usually I need to ask sometimes they forget to ) and am usually a spare - get sent to other offices or cover a walk for one day. Am I still entitled to a long weekend?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Im fighting my long weekends as Im a reserve and a fulltime postman and Am NOT treated the same as all the other postman/women within my office.
Im not sure what hours you work as If you are a casual then Im not so sure wether you are intitled to long weekends, but like me you are full time and a reserve Id like to think that we are due long weekends every 6th week.......................Hence the fact that im fighting for what I believe is discrimination and victimisation towards me.
Hope this helps in anyway.

I don't know if people are confusing terms, but the thing to remember is irrespective of your contracted hours, whether PT or FT, if you have a PERMANANT or TEMPORARY FIXED TERM contract you are entitled to a long weekend no less than every six weeks....no ifs, no buts, no bad lucks, no excuses.
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?
