That's exactly what is happening, anyone who is waiting for a FT contract needs to realise they'll never get one.jessicarabbit wrote:To give EVR involves government money to help pay for redundancy. By offering it they are saying this work no longer exists, if they then employ new full time people to do this same work they are in fact breaking Employment Law and likely would be taken to court by the CWU if they have the balls/finance to do this. People will never be made FT again IMHO. Its part time all the way to the end.

Does anyone think there is any hope for part-timers who want to go full-time?OnAFlyer wrote:That's exactly what is happening, anyone who is waiting for a FT contract needs to realise they'll never get one.jessicarabbit wrote:To give EVR involves government money to help pay for redundancy. I'm hoping that an agreed full-time ratio will be part of the deal that is currently being negotiated. Surely this would allow part-time to full-time progression in the long term as senior full-timers leave or retire?

There is unlikely to be any AGREED ratio.GHOSTman wrote:Does anyone think there is any hope for part-timers who want to go full-time?OnAFlyer wrote:That's exactly what is happening, anyone who is waiting for a FT contract needs to realise they'll never get one.jessicarabbit wrote:To give EVR involves government money to help pay for redundancy. Some D.Os will wish to increase their FT/PT ratio but this will come with the price of longer delivery spans.
Other D.Os will stick with a higher PT ratio if it means shorter spans.
The joys of local agreements.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I have a feeling you're right fishtank. This will be quite demoralising for many part-timers who want the chance to progress and earn a decent wage.fishtank wrote: There is unlikely to be any AGREED ratio.

Re: How should new Full Time contracts be allocated?
People need to look at this using a bit of common sense.
You lose full time people to a combination of EVR and buying down of hours, then you make up part time workers to full time
Does that make any sense at all, this is RM we are talking about and there intention is to continue cutting the workforce and converting full to part time duties by any means possible. The odds on anyone being made up are slim to none, don't let management fool anyone they intentions are well known and the tactics they use are the same everywhere.
Seniority is the only fair way of allocating a full time or indeed any duty, the longest serving person should get the opportunity first. This is not very popular with some of the newer members of RM, but many of them like sucking up to managers and not doubt think they should get first dibs at everything.

Re: How should new Full Time contracts be allocated?
The last full time contracts in my office were given out about 5 years ago, since then not a single person has been made full time. Some PT staff do full time walks but have to fill a docket in every week and get PT pay for holidays etc.GHOSTman wrote:Does anyone think there is any hope for part-timers who want to go full-time?OnAFlyer wrote:That's exactly what is happening, anyone who is waiting for a FT contract needs to realise they'll never get one.jessicarabbit wrote:To give EVR involves government money to help pay for redundancy. The full timers (old gits) will never agree to something that makes their job harder (longer spans) so PT (young dumb and full of c*m) will never get made up RM will experience high churn and new PT will start every year fresh faced hoping to become FT whist oldies pray they can make it to 67 without knees giving up to collect a pittance of a pension. The futures bright the futures Adam...........

AD our business plan proposal was for 8% in a office with 82 staff.
Ours has been put on hold for the time being its not even getting discussed.
