when a Union rakes in close to £292,000 a week from it's members ( and that's just us Blue Shirted guys and gals) it's no wonder they couldn't give a fook about us in the trenches !! :nervous :nervous

I was sure that the CWU was now part of RM or am wrong?

So nationaly where does the CWU start and RM finish. So nationaly do the CWU disagree with anything RM does like polices etc.
RM does not listen or care for Employees does the CWU.

On A more serious note, for many years I belonged to the AA or RAC, and paid a high price to do so.
Now I pay into a brakedown insurance plan and get the same service a lot cheaper.

On A National level CWU does nothing for me.If I could cancel my CWU subscription and pay into a scheme for my local rep to represent me if I HAVE A PROBLEM i would and thats the only reason I and many are still in the CWU.

Most people will know that I am not one of the psycophants who believe everything the CWU does or says is always in the best interests of the membership BUT it does give a cohesion to the workforce, of sorts. It provides legal services free and does offer more protecton to individual members who need assistance on both work related and private matters. Perhaps some haven't been well represented on disciplinary matters but they would be in the minority and there is at least some protection. Although it may appear that they do nothing for us and often appear to be more interested in their own salvation than ours, on balance I believe the trade union movement is a good thing; they appear to have lost their way in recent years in their dealings with the employer but new blood will eventually rise and make the members benefits a priority once again.

Totally agree dvb,
It would appear that this "union hostile" Labour goverment has completely confused those at the top of this and most other unions. It is ironic that a Consevative goverment may in fact save the trade union movement giving it a common target and returning it to those very values it was created for in the first place.
Of course i'm sure the Tories have some wonderful anti-union laws up their sleeves to counter any union resurgence.

Would that be more anti TU laws that a incoming Labour government would leave in place :no no

I seem to recall a certain 10 year rule introduced by Conservatives but left in place by Labour, of course we wont mention that, just ignore and pretend it dosent exist eh Billy?

i must agree somewhat with your sentiments puppetmaster. the cwu at branch, area and divisional level serve very little purpose our local rep however works hard to represent our office without robust assistance from his seniors.

The union is the membership - the problem i'd say is the leadership & those that prop it up. The rot starts at the top they say.
RM & CWU Reps Opinion is 'NOT' National Agreement
