Dear Colleague

RE: Tariff Increase – Quadrant Catering – 1st January 2010

We have received correspondence from the Head of Corporate Responsibility and Engagement Services informing us that they have been discussing with Quadrant the impact of the rate of VAT increasing back to its original level of 17.5% from the 1st January 2010. They have decided to increase the price of beverages only, to recover the VAT, rather than apply the increase in VAT to all meal prices. The effect to beverage prices is shown below:

PRODUCT
Current Price
Price from 1st Jan 2010
Small Coffee
0.45
0.50
Large Coffee
0.50
0.55
Small Tea
0.40
0.45
Large Tea
0.45
0.50
Small Hot Chocolate
0.45
0.50
Large Hot Chocolate
0.55
0.60
Whilst we fully understand and accept VAT has increased back to its original level of 17.5% (from 1st January 2010) we had requested that they refrain from implementing these charges on 1st January so that we can be given evidence as to what impact these changes will have on the overall tariff within Quadrant.

We have received correspondence this week informing us that Quadrant have implemented the changes as detailed above as of the 1st January 2010.

Just about any cafe is cheaper than the canteens, they wonder why not many people use the canteens when they charge such high prices.

The prices have gone up in our vending machines it's now 70p for a chocolate bar! How can they justify that?

I go to the canteen a couple of times a week, everytime I have the same thing and everytime its a different price  Time to get in a routine and take my own pack up in with me.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

The machines in my office are now rarely filled, it's sad that it's cheaper to walk 50 metres to the local shop and buy these things cheaper than our 'wonderful' vending machines.

I personally buy my stuff in multipacks from the supermarket and just use those, it takes a bit more planning but it's more than worth it in the long run.

Good thinking up to a point but why give your cash to a global cabal when you could help keep one of your own local shops open? Mrs linkinpark likes her tesco ect but i hate em and do try to use the local shop when i can.
I agree that it's best to support the independent but until we have a total collapse of world financial system and all those multi-national companies get ripped apart, we will have no real choice (just look in your cupboard and notice that everything is controlled by big companies).

Sometimes at my most paranoid I think that this is a global conspiracy to keep is fed by whatever means necessary to keep us from acutally seeing what is going on and taking action to drive the world in a new and better way.

 If I wasn't on a Government watch list before then I certainly am now :chuckle :chuckle
