Britain's bravest postman battles freezing temperatures... but insists on wearing shorts

Britain's bravest postman is determined to continue delivering letters during the Arctic cold snap - wearing his summer shorts.
Jason Urwin, 38, has worn his beloved blue shorts every day since he started work three-and-a-half years ago.
But residents were stunned to see him striding through the ice and snow with his bare legs on show.
The father-of-two, of Telford, Shropshire, has vowed to keep his shorts on despite warnings that his legs could freeze as temperatures threaten to plummet to below zero.

He said: 'When I first started with the Royal Mail I did think it was cold and saw other postmen in shorts and thought what are they doing.
'But one year the shorts stayed on and then I just found it was my fingertips that got cold.
'I do get a lot of reaction from people asking are you not cold or are your knees knocking together, especially when it's frosty or snowing.
'Some people have said that my legs could freeze but I don't own a pair of long trousers anyway.'
Urwin now braves the Arctic temperatures for four hours as he delivers to around 500 houses and businesses on his five-mile round.
Customer Dianna Young, 38, said: 'It's just weird in snow and ice seeing him in his shorts and he has been coming around for quite some years and I have never seen him in anything else.

'One day recently it was very frosty out and I saw him again in his shorts and it made me chuckle because he had every inch of him covered except for his eyes and his legs.
'My son was here one day and I said "look at my postman wearing his shorts" and he had a chuckle too.
'It's quite unusual and I just wonder if he is the wackiest postman in the country.'

It depends on the type of delivery though. We have one walk that part off it goes out on docket every day it has a maximum of 270 drops but is in a fairly affluent area - mine is 600+ but is a council estate type delivery so can be done quicker.

Do you know DGP1 - if that young woman played her cards right, she could entertain me this weekend..............I'm not sure how because this weather is playing havoc with the nether regions but it may have thawed out by Saturday night. :Very Happy

 God--- I really did wear something like that 40 years ago! The R/ M uniform doesn't have the same zing especially topped of with earflap hats tied on with rainmates---and the oversized waterproof trousers.I feel like a street walking baglady!

Maybe they could get him a washing machine out of FLF money

Do you have any idea what she looks like NOW? Of course you do so carry on.
I believe we belong to the same naturist group and now that you mention it I didn't recognise her without the wrinkles
