Do you have a Delivery Office closer to your home? If so you should try to attend there.

Agree, dont risk it  either go to your nearest DO or use a bus and turn in late. Please dont kill yourself on a motor bike in the snow.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

So how bad do the snow have to be to stop delivery. Just like to know.

I can manage to do the walk despite slipping three times over last two days.

fooking great ,tnt drivers sent home, ups drivers sent home, royal mail drivers go out and do what you can use your common sense its only a bit of water, broadsided the van 1/4 mile from yard at 5mph and went back.told manager you go and risk your life,he was a bit pissy, ice under 3 inches of snow does not grip well with vehicle tyres especially on a slope down .no one else went out.on saturday they kept people back who wanted to get home and had to walk 10 miles home in deep snow with no gritters out.

I had to ring in, got car stuck in snow. All buses cancelled. Got asked to walk the 6 miles from where I live! I refused, said it would take me at least 2 hours in these conditions. In the end he agreed to swap my day off to today so I stayed home. Dreading rest of the week now :-(

Been snow on the ground in many parts of Scotland since Dec 19. Hard, compacted ice. A joke to walk on, let alone highly dangerous.

Didn't you know there had been snow on the ground this long? Well, going by the media they'd have you believe southern England only has snowfall.

It would be nice if our higher mangement (you know the mob) acknowledged the fact we are doing a wonderful job in the face of Britain's worst winter in decades - but they won't.

I'm on the south coast as well. Remember when we had about half an inch of snow! Everything stopped (except us of course). As far as I'm concerned, you lucky chaps can keep your snow. :wave

Our DOM had a leaked e mail by his boss to say that heavy snow can 't be used as an excuse for no delivery, can you believe it? No Rurals went out in Macc, everyone was told to take bits of walks out , & the lucky ones managed to do near where they lived. tried to ask for parental leave coz of the closure of schools but was told NO, sort it out between you & your wife!!

It's TIME OFF FOR DEPENDANTS that covers unforseen circumstaces like school closures and if you have been refused there must be a full business reason given.
Sort it out between you& your wife is not good enough.
If you have been refused without good reason there is always this.

What if an employer unreasonably refuses time off?
Employees who think that they have been unreasonably refused time off or victimised for
taking it, may make a complaint to an Employment Tribunal against their employer.
Complaints must normally be made within three months of the date when the time off was
refused or the victimisation took place. The Tribunal may require the employer to pay the
employee compensation if it finds in his or her favour.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
