Happy New Year

Post by The BFO »

I predict that 2010 will become increasingly absurd as the various hangers-on in the organisation see the end of the current five year plan looming, and scrabble for a job in the next plan starting early next year.

We at the front line will of course be on the receiving end of their continuing desperate efforts to justify their existence.

Happy New Year?

Happy New Year from me also.

Caused a smile in my office when I said it may well be the last full year we are all working in the job. All expect to get the chop at the end of the 5 year plan in 2011. One girl says she feels like she is already working her notice.

On a more positive note I was looking at the photos someone emailed me of our casual clutching her card and flowers as she got the chop last week [no compulsory redundancies before 2011??]. We were all sad to see her go, but there's still a little line of smiling faces. Just reminds me how many great people I have met on the counter and how wonderful it is that we still all manage to help each other along.

As one who has only just signed up to this forum, I feel like I have just made some new friends, it helps sometimes to log on and let off steam and read some of the funny comments. When I tell my colleagues at work some of the things I have read here, we know "it's not just us".

Good luck everybody.

Nice to hear a casual got a card and some flowers. Ours was just not asked to do any more hours. No one had a chance to say goodbye or thankyou.

Yes she'd been with us a few years on the PostShop and become one of us. As I said before, it's having such a supportive bunch of staff that makes the whole thing (just about) tolerable.

Just a thought, does anybody know when exactly the five2eleven plan finishes? Is it the start of 2011, the end of 2011 or in the middle sometime. Probably a silly question to ask as they couldn't plan that far ahead anyway :wave
