Sent home by DOM

Post by pondhopper »

I am posting this under a new thread is for the following reason.
I got SENT HOME BY MY DOM!
Follow this link to get the background on what happened
http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 28&t=22969

I was on light duties in the office yesterday, after having an accident on my delivery. I had been sorting letters and flats, as I could sit down whilst doing this.

The DOM and the line manager were more than happy for me to do this as there was a bit of mail to sort yesterday, after everyone had gone out on delivery.
Now today I went in, albeit on SA, as I assumed I had to go in. I had signed for SA at the end of November and not a word was said either yesterday or the day before when I had my accident, ie do not come in on your day off to do SA.
I had done basically 2 hours sorting this morning, sitting down to do this and then the DOM came up to me and told me to go home as he did not want me in the office as "You're on rehab and I don't want to pay you when you are off sick."
My Union rep was nearby and heard this, and he was not impressed at all. The line manager, to be honest didn't look to happy about me having to go home either, after all I was clearing mail from the IPS frames, albeit sitting downwhilst doing it.
The Union rep told me to make sure I signed out and also to make sure I got paid for the work I had done. The DOM said ok to this. So I signed off and left the office and am now not going to return until after Xmas/New Year.
I was also advised by my Union rep, who was somewhat annoyed at this to say the least, to not return to the office until I have fully recovered from my injury. So this now means I am officially off sick, despite the fact that they were happy for me to be in the office on light duties yesterday.
It would appear that they don't want to pay me for today as it is officially my day off and I went in on SA, as I was not told anything differently to this and as I had signed for SA I naturally assumed, as I've already said, that I had to go in, although I would only be doing light duties.
Now I am contacting my doctor to see about being signed off until I am fit for duties, also I am contacting the customer on my delivery, as they saw the accident happen the other day, to get them to act as a witness, if needed.
My Union rep says I will no doubt have to go to ATOS when I return to work as well, and also have a Return to Work review with my manager. This will no doubt result in a Stage Warning as well he said and I told him that I want him there when I do my Return to Work in the New Year as well. He is more than happy to do this as well and told me that it would not count against me, but I think they will keep this 'filed' away for future reference I bet.
Suffice to say my rep and I were not impressed, neither were a few other people near by who heard/saw what happened.
So much for "Peace and Goodwill to all" at this time of the year!

So watch out on delivery, if something like this happens to you.

:Very Happy
Happy Crimbo to you all.

Have yourselves a very merry Christmas,
and may your pouches all be light.
(well... not more than 16kgs anyway!)
May your deliveries start and end on time.
(discounting the missort runs, packets, etc)
And may your tips be plentyful and fine.
(and may your customers also be in to get their packets, and signed for items) (Or...better still! Doorstep them.. but only if they are happy with this that is. I am in now way advocating the use of 'doorstepping'. Don't want you to be hauled up on a misconduct charge by your DOM!)

You are not allowed to do any O/T whilst on rehab or light duties.

Also if you have already had sick absense due to your accident and go off sick again that counts as two absences and both will go against you.

Update on my accident... if you wondered what the outcome was of me coming off my bike and injuring myself.

I went in to my Delivery Office last Thursday morning to talking to my DOM. This was after talking to a line-manager on the phone on last Wednesday, when I was in the hospital giving an update, as requested, on my injury. My DOM asked me if I could work in the office on light duties starting on Sat Jan 2nd. He talked to me about the accident and asked some questions in relation to the report for RIDDOR and I also gave him the details with regards to my visit to A&E at my local hospital. This was added to the other info from the walk-in center I went to when I had the accident. This was not put on ERICA as that was done on Tuesday after the accident.
He then told me that ATOS would call me sometime next week, meaning this week, and as I had no idea as to who would be calling, or when I assumed it would be a doctor or a nurse.... then again you would have to take their word for it on the phone!! (see the quote below...!!)
The upshot of this is that I'm now back in the office on light duties, and I threw my delivery off, sitting down... for some of the time and was asked to assist with throwing off another delivery and I then did some missorts that were in the office. I then signed out after my shift was over and went home. Around 5pm I got woken up by the phone ringing and I didn't recognise the number, let alone know what the code was, so I did a search online for it. I found out that it was ATOS calling me at home. Why not call me when I'm at work... I'm there from 6am.
I thought it was going to be a doctor calling me.. not someone who doesn't have any medical qualifications... who could, according to this quote on that website, are a waste of space (I'm putting it mildly)

Read a few comments on the website that listed the number.. here's a nice quote from that page.
Upshot of this is that they can phone me at work and not at home.

This is the website that it's on with the same phone number listed as well.

Very handy to search out those nuisance call numbers you get... a nice long list of them on this site...

This is the phone number of the caller I had

It would seem that Stew doesn't like them, as I've never dealt with ATOS, somehow I think he may have had some experience with them!! As I said... if they want to talk to me they can phone me when I'm at work!

ATOS are profoundly dishonest, and get paid for every sick claimant they can kick off the list - that's why they're not particularly fussy about who does get kicked off.

An assessment consists of some guy asking questions about your medical history, whilst he types it up onto a system deliberately geared to get you kicked off, then it gets 'processed' by a data inputter at the other end - that's it!

You have no idea what his medical expertise is. So, if you have multiple healthcare professionals or even specialists who have stated you cannot work, don't expect ATOS to take notice of that.

As far as the government and the DWP are concerned, the word of one total stranger you've never seen before and who doesn't know anything about you, plus the monkey at the keyboard at the other end, takes precedence over the word of multiple actual medical professionals.

When you go to the assessment, take a recording device with you and set it away before the assessment starts. Then, you have evidence that they've deliberately lied to you in order so that they fulfil the £750 million contract they got from the government to shave the sick list by 75%. Also, keep copies of letters they send you/you send them, and record any phone calls.

If enough people do this, it'll become nationally known, and ATOS' collective lying will be exposed for what it is. They are liars - pure and simple - and you should exercise total caution when dealing with them in any way.

In summary, ATOS will look for any and every excuse to force you off the sick list - and make up a few of their own if they can't find any.

Be VERY careful in your dealings with them - they are NOT to be trusted, much like the government that have chosen to employ their services.

Still, this government will be out on its rear next year, so there's some consolation to be had in that.
Also... I found out on Sat we were 17 people short in the office, maybe why he wanted me in on Sat to help get some deliveries sorted I bet. There were as a result of that some failures and my delivery was one of them, as no-one took it out on Sat. Today when I left the office the delivery I helped throw off was still in the frame, apart from one section of it that a driver took out, so no doubt that was a failure as well.
Also...
I haven't had a return to work meeting yet either.. What is the "time limit" on those anyway?

Thanks for that info. I wasn't told that in the office by any manager, from the DOM down. Makes sense then, from his point of view at least, although I could do work, albeit light duties. Seems to me they just don't want to pay you overtime rates if you are on light duties, but are happy for you to work in the office anyway on your normal working day!
Also there was no break in the absence, so it will only count as one absence and not two.

I think it's re the DHSS and people having medicals from what I've been told ? . They also have a software system called LIMA ?? , the questions can seem apparently innocuous but there can be assumptions made on answers .

There's a lot of pressure from way on high . Apparently there's the same or more suspicion about them as with RM staff .

Hope that's of help or at least leads someone in the right direction .

Put ATOS DHSS in Google and got this http://dwpexamination.wordpress.com/200 ... amination/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Might be a few malingerers / workshy BUT they are not popular with what would appear to be genuinely ill people :hmmmm

Quote from the site : " What I want to do here is to create a site where people can say what they want without fear of reprisal, identify and draw attention to bad practice, name and shame unprofessional behaviour by ATOS Healthcare Doctors and DWP staff, show how inaccessible some of the buildings these so called “caring professionals” are occupying and expose the reasons why they are in such dubious locations."

They must have another number as I had a fecking long rant about the w*****s on whocallsme.com as well and can`t find it now! :d'oh!
Ah well.... They are feckin pants who will tell you that your not fit or fit for work depending on what RM wants to hear.
I had the w*****s telling RM that I was unfit for work and must be got rid of,a month later I went for a medical with the DWP and the Atos quack said I was fit to do any work!
Marvellous the condition I`ve had for TWO years and the best medical minds can`t find a cure for, has suddenly gone based on Atossers computer programme! :so there w*****s!!
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Apparently you'll have to appeal through the DHSS system , apparently a good percentage win . They apparently work on the basis that you walked from the car park to the Social Offices so theoretically you could start as a hod carrier on a Building Site on Monday - that's if there was any jobs ! :d'oh!

I'm told instead of the likes of :lfo & :cfo , :mfo , Dim Dums , DSM's and linos from hell you've had Ministers like the Sheffield Stud Blunkett and Purnell cracking the whip and trying manage and micro manage the DHSS system and are looking for good headlines to appeal to moronic Daily Mail readers .

The PCS are non too chuffed and they don't like firms like A4e too . As bad as New Liebour are , Dave Snooty and his Eton Rifles will be even worse .
