Will I get a stage warning after an operation?

if its anything like most offices then it doesnt matter why you were off you will get issued a stage. You cant appeal it but you can put in a grievance against it if you wish.

This report looks pretty promising, will it stand up with my line manager or DOM? should I quote it or have the relevant page printed out to take with me to the back to work interview?

I had six weeks off after surgery to repair torn cartialige in both knees.(A bilateral arthroscopy)
As "the business benefitted from my surgery" I was not issued with a stage warning.
My DOM had a similar operation a couple of weeks later, so maybe that swayed his judgement.

Yes anything beyond 14 days triggers a stage 1 attendance where you will go into the interview with your rep who will state your case and mitigating circumstances. If youve any decent kind of rep in your office you shouldnt be issued with the stage as an operation and time off incurred recuperating is the height of mitigating circumstances and if theyre not prepared to take these into account then why the feck should there be mitigating circumstances in the first place if they are not going to consider why youve been off. If your rep is an idiot (and we have some in Belfast who are in RM's pockets) then tell him/her that he/she shouldnt be pulling any punches before you go in and youre not going to accept the stage as its unacceptable, especially in these times and in the spirit of the interim agreement where we are trying to improve relations between management and employees. This might fall on deaf ears as management are inconsiderate aresholes but give them a fight anyway.

What if you have been forced out of work due to a bullying Dim ? would this still trigger a stage one? We have a great rep in our office so i have no worries about being represented by him.

Great point. Have just printed out the information, so I can hit them with it if they issue a stage. It's got to be worth a try.

With the stuff that's gonna go on from now on, you will get a warning for taking a leak mate. They will be the biggest wan***s you ever could imagine. Don't waste your time begging him, just walk in pen in hand and sign the dotted line. If you have an operation in the future, have it done in the office on light duties. At least you're not off sick.

I hadn't had a single day off in the 5 year I had been at Royal Mail. I had an AOD was off on the sick, ended up having an operation and my kind line manager gave me a stage 1. We're all just a number!
