Working from 545am to 5pm on Christmas eve? Sad...
Time was I did things like this when I had some pride in the job, not any more. Any goodwill I had for RM left me years ago.
About time the public know its not a public service anymore. I hope he got a good tip after all the plaudits.

Wivenhoe isn't an easy one in bad weather. The river isn't the problem, its the uphill run via the University and then downhill to Wivenhoe quay although to be honest, the worst is probably mersea island as the sea runs over the causeway bridge at high tide.

Monkwick has many points in roughly the same area but furthest distance from Colchester is 2 miles. Both roughly the same distance I walk in to my DO every day.

Or has - and what I suspect - a post been deleted which makes Night Tonic post redundant. :hmmmm
Very good but you are missing 1 important point!!!! In between there is a tidal river between the 2 so the poor sod had to go into town before going out again. In my spdo we had to deliver where it was "safe" and we got the job done!!!! H&S is using common sense as when the snow melted and refroze the next day was worse!!!!! :hmmmm
 :hmmmm
Brother saintsnut I would respectfully disagree with your supposition that H&S is using common sense for these reasons alone. Health and safety is not common sense, it is based on the law and needs to be approached with intelligence and an inquiring mind. A control measure that would have prevented a mishap is often glaringly obvious after the event. In other words, hindsight tends to be a wonderful thing, we have a tendency to call this common sense. Common sense is learned behaviour therefore, 'common sense' is only 'common' when you have an awareness and understanding of the topic and/or environment in which it is to be applied. The majority of health and safety practice is just GOOD sense.
