Linx just gets angry because he feels he has the moral high ground and you lot just don't see the bigger picture.

We must understand the pikey, we must welcome the pikey with open arms because only then will the pikey feel they have a contribution to make to society:

Anyway this was originally about a smear on RM in The Torygraph - Private Caterers made a simple mistake out of ignorance , in thinking that a Scotch Egg was merely a deep fried egg coated in breadcrumbs , not realising there was probably pork sausage meat under said breadcrumbs - something and nothing but there's always the rent a quote , bleeding hearts crowd that make a lot of noise publicly

Re: Royal Mail forced to apologise for pork dinners
I think the Scots should start kicking up about it, it's a racist slur against their eggs.
The powers that be might haveto rename the egg, especially if the anti pork brigade start shouting.
I can see it being debated in an independent Holyrood right now.
Is the egg still a symbol of Scotland?
The offending article:

Mughal Empire:Some of Britain's culinary favourites also crossed over to the Indian sub-continent and there is a popular Indian dish called nargisi kofta also known in English as Curried Scotch Eggs. The spices used suggest a Moghul influence

Strange world we live in.The Mogul Empire was an Islamic imperial power that ruled the Indian subcontinent which began in 1526

Are the people of Scotland proud of their egg in the same way that the people of Yorkshire are proud of their pudding, the people of Cumberland are proud of their sausage, the people of Cheddar are proud of their cheese and the people of Madras are proud of their chicken?

I think the question that needs to be asked is how the feck did a story like this get into national newspaper, online or not

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Royal Mail does have it's fair share of professional & amateur complainers that feed a network of professional troublemakers, often at the tax payer's expense ; on the lookout for " causes " & work and aim to bully people into believing that it is only white people that are racist in any way though whilst reprehensible , is not quite always the case .
Fundamentalism and militancy mixed in with gangster culture is a very poisonous cocktail for disaffected people .
For all the macho willy waving that goes on countrywide , you could argue that the higher you go up the Royal Mail food chain , in some instances , the weaker the perverse agenda obsessed managers are .
Royal Mail has operated in panic mode for some time .
Nothing to do with being threatened with investigation by the CRE & EOC

Re: Pork in Scotch eggs upset Muslim workers
Veggie scotch eggs http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/datab ... 9967.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Stormproof wrote:I've never heard of a veggie Scotch egg, are the Muslims blind, you can see the things contain meatdon't know what the staff are moaning about, think about the 1000's of us that were offered F**k All
Ingredients
4 free-range eggs
vegetable oil, for deep frying
2 tbsp olive oil
knob of butter
1 onion, finely chopped
1 carrot, grated
1 garlic clove, chopped
½ tsp chilli flakes
400g/14oz canned chickpeas, rinsed and drained, blended to a paste in a food processor
1 raw beetroot, peeled, grated
1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
salt and freshly ground white pepper
100g/3½oz plain flour
2 free-range eggs, beaten
175g/6oz breadcrumbs
piccalilli, to serve
Method
1. Boil the eggs for nine minutes, then plunge into cold water to cool.
2. Half-fill a deep, heavy-based pan with the vegetable oil and heat until a breadcrumb sizzles and turns brown when dropped into it. (CAUTION: Hot oil can be dangerous. Do not leave unattended.)
3. Heat the oil and butter in a frying pan. When the butter is foaming add the onion, carrot, garlic and chilli flakes and fry until the onion is softened.
4. Place the chickpea purée into a bowl. Add the fried ingredients and mix well.
5. Add the beetroot and thyme and season very well with salt and freshly ground white pepper.
6. Peel the eggs then dredge them in the flour.
7. Wrap the mix chickpea mixture around each of the boiled eggs, making sure there are no gaps and mould into balls.
8. Roll the coated eggs in the beaten egg, then roll in the breadcrumbs to coat completely.
9. Carefully add the coated eggs to the hot oil and deep-fry for 3-4 minutes, or until crisp and golden-brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on kitchen paper.
10. Serve the veggie scotch eggs with a good dollop of piccalilli.

Re: Royal Mail forced to apologise for pork dinners
Thanks for the recipe TBT - think I'll go to the chippy, by the time I'd amassed the million and 1 ingredients read the recipe instructions 4 times, got it wrong 3 times, burnt the egg, chucked everything in the bin, I'd really need something to eat, maybe I'd have a pickled egg to go with the fish, chips and peas with two barm cakes - got to watch the weight though so I'd probably have a diet coke.
