Re: Longer and Later Saturday Working
Pissed off now .Everything I ever hear from my union is about how quick would you like your terms and conditions to go backwards. Not much point having our present organisation if all they can do is set the date for when we hit the rock bottom
Bye

What a set of clowns.
We have to give back a litlle to recieve something back!
Like f***ing what?
I tell you what why don`t the f**k wits at HQ come to my delivery office and explain this to the lads, because I`m sure as hell not going to do it for them.

Re: POLL:Longer and Later Saturday Working
what i would like to know is how do people know it is an issue in the talks . see we pay our money and here NOTHING about the progress about the talks what we went on strike for.
all we hear is we you are going on strike next week e.t.c.
why are we hearing nothing from our reps. after next week we will be screwed by all and sundry. i have asked my rep what is happening and he says nothing yet i have seen letters on here and on f book from other members.
who gives a f..k about saturdays anyway :):):
p.s from a pissed off posty

Weekdays are pretty much a non issue for me, but Saturdays would be.

This is flexibility...trouble is its only flexibile towards royal mail, a lot of you want to think yourselves lucky too, i work in a sdo and our walks are between 4 1/2 to 5 hours including saturdays. No union rep as ever answered my question as to why we have to work longer, all i get is a shrug of the shoulders and they walk away.

If we are to work longer saturdays, (i think its inevitable) the cwu should negotiate for shift patterns that gives us every other saturday off. This would be the only way i would consider accepting longer saturdays.

Re: POLL:Longer and Later Saturday Working
It's not inevitable at all, crikey, if Ireland can get by without any deliveries of any sort on a saturday, then Britain's posties need not work any longer than they do already on a saturday.pjthebear wrote:If we are to work longer saturdays, (i think its inevitable) the cwu should negotiate for shift patterns that gives us every other saturday off. 4 day weeks with a rotating rest days will give you a long weekend Fri-Tues every third week, with a wed-Thurs off in the middle.pjthebear wrote:If we are to work longer saturdays, (i think its inevitable) the cwu should negotiate for shift patterns that gives us every other saturday off. It means working a 10 hour day though 05.30-15.00 which is long but worth it imho with the days off.Have a look at it.

This system would work for now but when the much later starts come in under the new delivery model then 10 hours would be 9.00am til 7.00pm... NO THANKS....

I fully agree with this it would take away alot of family time as well when there was no footy. What do you do with your season ticket????
Wouldn't it be possible to have a vote in your mail centre to decide on this issue and take it from there.Surely working something like 5.30 till 1.30 on Saturdays wouldn't be bad though as some have said it does seem to be a shorter day on in some respects even more so if you dont take out your Saturday Mailsort till Monday.

I bet you havent been told to 'find a new job' like I was on Monday because I wasnt prepared to go over my time on Saturday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!dblad wrote:This is flexibility...trouble is its only flexibile towards royal mail, a lot of you want to think yourselves lucky too, i work in a sdo and our walks are between 4 1/2 to 5 hours including saturdays. Re: POLL:Longer and Later Saturday Working
If the mail is down by 10-12%, why do we need to start later?
If the new machines are going to sort the mail quicker why do we need to work later?
If there are going to be large job losses if or when this agreement is ratified, why dont we go for a Mon-Fri? Job losses will arise from both options but i would rather work Mon-Fri. Sheduled attendances for Priority mail would cover the premier service. Collections could be done Sat & Sun then taken to the new machinery to be sorted for the monday. Equal amounts of Dow stream access mail could be fed into the deliveries daily giving staff a balanced workload daily. It is not rocket science chaps. Regards to all.

Re: POLL:Longer and Later Saturday Working
later finish on a saturday is a great idea. we should work sundays aswell. hell why dont they put hammocks on our prep frames. Then they could reduce our wages and claim that we are doing live in jobs. Then they could ask a well known golfer or football player to look after our missus for us at weekends.
