Re: Managment Attck Underway As Predicted
When our office had to lapse during the summer, some vans chose to do their lapsing after their own delivery. After a few days of cut offs the lapsed duties amazingly started appearing as duties on overtime. We all did lapsing p/t and f/t but we all stuck together and did not allow ourselves to be bullied into it. Come on, I have read some astonishing things on this forum, drivers being paid £50 by walkers and posties taking their own cars out to do lapsing?? For what? A tin of biscuits between 100 people and 25 poxy stamps at Christmas? Wake up and smell the coffee people. The managers who brow beat you into doing this work for free (and make no mistake it is for free) don't give a flying duck about you. When they are not picking peanuts out of their poo they are scheming their next move up the greasy pole whilst failing to remember that sh*it doesn't fall upwards when their own DOM drops a log on them from his ivory tower. People, I urge you to read the interim agreement on the CWU website and for Gods sake stop being a bunch of twats...

Dave, 4 hr 48, so you have been put just under 5 hrs to rob you of 10 mins break, why do you not just cut off.dave0876 wrote:I don't want to get into an argument with f/t staff but would just like to breakdown what i have to do in 4hr 48 min.
Packet Bag 15-20 min
re-directions 10 mins (fluctuates per duty)
Bag up 20 mins
Lapse 15 mins (including travelling time
Break 20 mins
Travel out to duty (this can be anything in between (10-20 mins
Delivery 3.5
travel back from duty 10-20 mins
total=5.20 taking in lower etimates
This does not include any mail that we have to throw up on a daily basis when we come in.So for those f/t who think we have time to do lapsing think again even on a quiet day and duty takes three hours we get done just about so i suggest p/t lapse on a tuesday only as this is the only day we may have time. What does'nt help p/t cause is f/t coming in early and throwing there mech stuff up before they go on ips as this means u work for free and when royal mail see u finishing early they think that everyone is the same and we are NOT these people are SELFISH TWATS WHO HAVE COST PEOPLE THERE JOBS wake up and smell the coffee u buffoons.

Himmagen, I dont know what world you live in, but if you think that a seven hour stint of delivering day in day out is within the health and safety regulations, then you must be barking mad. Did you not see the Panorama programme. Even a fully fit marine said that he would not want to be covering a 3.5 hour walk day in day out for 5days and thats with just delivering one leaflet to each door. You could of course be looking to take up a new role as a paramedic within Royal Mail because they will be in great demand if your scenario is correct.

3-30hrs delivery as per national agreement, end of,lapse, flexing jumping through hoops will not at the moment make that longer if you don't want it to be,and i don't care what the P&M says!!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Managment Attck Underway As Predicted
lets forget the part time full time crap
whatever your contract is just work to your time or claim OT if you want
as someone who has a daily battle over cutting/streaming then i know its not easy
however the alternative is coming in early, running like mad and being knackered all the time
i have just had my easiest xmas ever as i cant do overtime due to chilcare timings

Satisfied;challenged;tested to the limit;well rewarded;appreciated for your superhuman efforts;pleased with your medal from Betty for yomping through extreme conditions with the ever present threat of an ad hoc tracheotomy being performed by a rabid Pit Bull;or exploited and homicidal?

When you say union policy, is this for a full time contract, but giving up everything like D2Ds, health and safety, longer walks, no overtime etc etc.

Re: Managment Attck Underway As Predicted
No idea, it's simply a longstanding policy for our wage level.
That said CWU are also committed to simplyfying our pay structure so I suppose the £400 can be seen as not a real basic paypayrise but simple absorption of other pay elements.
When we finally have something to vote look at the small print as to how a higher basic pay has been achived, dont let the headlines decive you.

Ever considered getting some wider experience Big Daz? Not meaning to be over critical but ,and I mean this in a constructive way , you can come across as a bit blinkered, almost institutionalised .Big Daz wrote:No idea, it's simply a longstanding policy for our wage level.

Hope that helps.Happy NY
