If Royal mail are able to compete with the courier then the public would be paying more for the standard 1st class letter and will have a more definitive choice of courier
Should the public be forced into paying over the odds for a letter where now 34p gets you next day delivery compared to Rivals?
Public are our stakeholders they support us or drop us if we compete the prices will go up and Public will suffer! look at the recent tariff increases for large cards etc?
Value for money is what they want and need if competing can we still give them that 100%ish?
I dont think so.
One step closer to privatisation this would be!
The public need us and we need the public especially thos rural based too! :cfo :lfo
Sorry had to get that off me chest

I'd be interested to hear too as CWU today claimed they have 'flatly refused to negotiate with them', you seem to be well connected. . .billypants wrote:MDEC101 can you back up your claim that the 22 strings have been cut down to just 5 with the 2.5% still on the table. . . . . and which 5 are left ?
all just sounds like more Leighton bullshit to me

Hmm this is what i said in another thread recently...that i was pretty sure i saw a flyer goin round ages ago before the strikes that did indeed say to forget all the previous strings and concentrate solely on the 5 on the new flyer!!! Anyone got more info on this...billypants wrote:MDEC101 can you back up your claim that the 22 strings have been cut down to just 5 with the 2.5% still on the table. . . . . and which 5 are left ?

It's been banding around for a while, one of Dave wards statements did say that some have been widthdrawn, but not which ones or how many.
Maybe someone could contact HQ and ask a few questions.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
