Well done again Roy ,crikey why can't the f***wits who pretend to be journalists come out with this stuff.I think they will in the future when they plagiarise your opinions but at least it will be a check and balance against Royal Mail press releases which they seem to rely on so heavily before informing us general public numbskulls of their insights.

Will Hutton who had unexpected best sellers with " The State to Come " & " The State we're in " ( Basically Keynesian economics not Neo - Liberal ) did a demolition job on Postcon some years back .

He accused them of being rabid free market ideologues with no forensic analysis or anything to back them up living in a Parallel Universe .

The gist of Postcon's policy was basically if you cut and cut or even hinder RM ( like the DSA loss on the Competition's letters it still has to deliver ) , RM as if by magic ; would suddenly become more efficient and they really believed they were helping RM to become more competitive / doing a RM a favour .

Hutton's argument was that RM had profound organisational problems and they needed tackling better .

The Union published the article in " The Voice " and their propaganda was Postcon as this King Type figure wrecking the RM / PO . Even Leighton said it was a death by a thousand cuts .

They also wanted to issue Postal Licenses for £50 , so any Del Boy figure with a white van could do a delivery service .

However who installed them in the first place ? :mfo had a hand in it and quite a few other Blairite ministers too . You should never upset Mandy especially after not letting him privatise in '98 - Damm Democracy eh

I'm fairly sure the basic licence started at a tenner.I noticed last week that 2 new licences were issued to companies in Kent and Cambridge.

I asked Postcomm months ago why they posed as an 'Independent' Regulator when they openly acknowledge the fact that they are in place to smash the 350 year old 'Monopoly' Royal mail have over the U.K's mail.
'Independent' - Not influenced or controlled by others in matters of opinion, conduct, etc.. Not governed by a foreign power; self-governing - Definitely not!
'Regulator' A device used to control or one of a group of persons chosen to control or govern that ensures compliance with their own set of rules or laws - Probably ...
Postcomm are the secret parasite controlling and eating away at the very fabric of the last remains of our quality 350 year old postal service.

Since the 1st of January in 2006 when postcomm 'introduced' the 'competition' into the market has the quality of the mail service improved ? I think every single person that receives post (Thats everyone) in the U.k knows the answer to that...............................................................................

Mandelson and Crozier present the idea that the decline in the postal industry is down to some kind of objective outside force, like "the market", but when you look at it more closely you see that it's all part of a deliberate policy. I think we need to get an on-line petition going. We need to make the public aware of what is being done to our industry. If we can get Rage Against the Machine as a Christmas number 1, why not a public awareness campaign to protect our postal service?
