If we knew one way or another which way they are thinking of going then we could at least start to gauge the true feeling among the members. Or is it that they are going to sell us so far down the river they don't want us to know how bad it's going to be????? Some information would be nice - like we've secured D2D and 35 hr week but we're still negotiating the delivery spans........
They are not negotiating delivery spans, that is for local agreement.

We don't have the space for more vans.
I think 2 deliveries with a break inbetween is the only way.
You just can't make walks 5 or 6 hours,it just wouldn't be possible for many people.

Sounds like the deal of a lifetime :cuppa

Linkin your wrong the first class distant will be in the second batch of mail which by workplan 4.40 in the morning.

Now Saturday is a massive issue as the walk seqencing machines will mean that Royal Mail want Saturdays to be the same finish as during the week which for towns and cities a 3 o clock last letter.

Perhaps dingo is just giving us the heads up on what the union are considering and testing the water on a possible reaction to what is in store. Perhaps it would be wise to run a longer testing session with more offices involved in sequencing, which in truth has had mixed reviews. Park and loop will be a reality and it does make sense if it is done properly. Someone expressed concern about not having room to park the extra vehicles and I believe RM are looking at the possiblity of parking vehicles at home but have not thought it through as there may be tax implications for the person taking the vehicle home. The talk of using D2D as part of the workload is a nonsense and I have said so before - D2D are already part of the workload and there is a finite limit as to what can and cannot be achieved. Not all offices are the same and many deliveries are already oversubscribed and with the addition of extra packets and now a suggestion of more D2Ds to be prepped and delivered, well it does need someone who understands the delivery process to negotiate and not some people going on what would fit the plan and not what would work in practice.

Considering that the agreement was supposed to be done and dusted by early December it's a bit late to be asking what you would accept as a level for agreement. What have they been using up to now as a yardstick?

Yes I saw the transcript of Billy's' speech, where he said the negotiators had been working very hard and that it should be finalised by the 23rd - now that is pretty strange because there doesn't seem to be any cohesion on what the negotiations on delivery are and yet we are having the agreement on the 23rd - that wouldn't be the day HQ finish for Christmas by any chance and therefore there would be a moratorium for the break. There would then have to be a preparation for a vote and then the vote - to which no one has satisfactorily answered - what if it's a NO?

Hang on a minute dingo - I hope you're not suggesting Billy is not in the loop, he is the leader of the CWU or has Royal Mail stopped talking to him. :hmmmm A bit of a soothsayer too I see, I've been waiting for a parcel since the 30th of November will it be here in the next 24 hours?

Of course it will be a joint statement! CWU,HQ,RM is what our new Union will be known as from the 01/01/2010. You know what makes me laugh is that locally after less than a week of local action (helped by info provided by dingo i might add! thank you for that.) we beat em here with our 100% solidarity and they backed off their EA sh*t increased hours of P/Ts and even threw in an extra duty not enough for us but a starting point. And our office has never been as strong and solid as NOW, we have local support with both the local media and local people backing us. Tell us dingo how is it up in the smoke? Cause after three full weeks of struggle you lot seem to be happy to go back to what you had before you voted to strike but dont seem to have got that yet though? What have you got your members here and now to show for your members sacrifices 21 IA days that justifies your PRO HQ stance? Please tell us as this new HQ RM agreement will impact on our office, to our offices detriment as our DOM has already told us we have park and loop coming that will cut out many driving duties here and even more work for less pay for those posties left (we have not had a pay RISE in over Five years now and we have to work an extra FIVE YEARS to get OUR PENSIONS that are ours by RIGHT in the form of defered wages so thanks for that Billy, Dave and the PEC)
