so what should the maximum delivery span be then please? our office varies so much it is unbelievable. the same old faces get back earlier than the rest and they are the quick ones and then people complain that they have an easier delivery than them.
so the guy who was getting back early took em to task and said right lets swap for a week and the other guy done two days on his delivery and said lets swap back i,m sorry i said your delivery was easier :).

yesterday i was finished at 1pm had to walk an hct in 5 inches of snow for 5 hours . went to the shop l8r in the day and saw 2 guys coming back at 4.30. they looked :(.

some are quick some are slow there is no in between.
p.s what should the delivery time span be please ?

This is how simple it is if the union agree to longer delivery spans WE the members kill off the union with draw our subscriptions then ward/hayes will be out of a fecking job.

In our office we will not do walks longer than 3.5hrs simples.

R/M and the CWU branch can pile on as much pressure as they chose but we will not back down to either party and this is what every office across the land has to do.

During the build up to the vote i can remember the union pushing for a yes vote they said if they didnt get a yes vote it wold be the end of the CWU are they not realising that longer del spans loss of D2D payment that it will be them that kill off the union. I think some people are not as smart as they come across are they.

I really do not like talk of subs drying up, people having a hissy fit saying i'm gonna leave etc, i'm union through to the bone but am starting to feel the same way i'm afraid.

I have been a local rep in a small office of 50 deliverys and have supported the party line to my members, starting to lose faith fast with hearing Billy on radio 4 the otherday and what our national reps seem to be now agreeing to, such a shame, really is :cry

Lose the FT majority, lose the union....after all how many PT compared to FT are in the union? How many new starters will join if we tell them that they should join the union that will make a bloody hard job a lot harder, will appear to be unaccountable except at re-election time ( and seriously, could you tell any of them apart if an election was announced tomorrow? I can't....they're all just names to me ), and finally if they find themseleves in danger of losing their job through a stitch up, the union will probably cut them loose unless the union solicitors think they have a better than evens chance of success ( and like so much in RM, there's no second opinion, no appeal to that decision ). On top of that, if they pay into they political fund, they would be supporting a political organisation whose leaders have done nothing to assist ( and even actually hinder ) it's paymasters.

Pardon my rant....but, in short, if the Union allow the majority of long term OPGs to go, then the union is a dead man walking....no ifs, no buts, no escape, no appeal.

Has anyone like i have had the thought to maybe email or put pen/paper to the CWU hierachy a link to this thread and many alike so they understand the feelings of its members.

I feel that we as members have a responsabilty to do this.

If after this dispute the union is dead ad buried it will be distratous in the long term for us.

But if we are all thinking alike and are prepared to leave the union if they agree longer del spans should we not try to put our point across a different way instead of standing by and hoping these terms our not agreed.

It was just a thought as i am a proud member of the CWU and i believe the rest of you are and although we are prepared to take extreme measures if needed do we really want to kill off the CWU.

Monkeyboy your last two posts have been spot on. Im not good on the computer but if someone provided an address where i could write to the hierarchy at the cwu i would make my feelings known on the delivery span for certain, just as i was glad to get an address to martin heward to drop him a card and a note too. Im using an HCT, supposedly perfect to increase the delivery span. 29 blocks of flats and 4hrs 10 minutes on foot there and back to office. Im shattered and only 40 so plenty of years to go yet

I would like to make it clear i would not advise anyone to leave the CWU.Nor would i consider leaving myself.
That said there ARE problems at the top of this union which will be difficult to resolve.
I do believe that full time release acts as too much of a buffer between our problems and those in more senior union positions.
It is one thing visiting an office, shaking hands and saying all the right things.Very few will stand up and speak against you.
I have spoken to several Local reps in the last few weeks and not one has been in favour of longer spans. But my divisional rep is. :hmmmm
What CWU HQ NEED to realise is it doesn't matter whether longer spans are right or wrong.
WE JUST CANNOT MANAGE THEM. :arrrghhh

well like i said i am 22year person so have been there seen it done it and just can not for the life of me see where the union are going on this. our union guy don,t give a toss cos he on a little town delivery which takes him about 1.30 max. put him on proper job and he won,t do it.

yet he expects part timers to do full time deliveries and says nothing to back them up when get called in office for booking.

the union and managers work together too much in the wrong way. i,m afraid lads we are all shafted. they want us to work till we drop literally.

can we take much more of this? i think not.

IF CWU HQ did not look at the Panorama programme and inwardly digest that it is inhuman to expect a delivery span in excess of 3.5 hours 5dys a week 52 weeks a year for god knows how many years then something is wrong. If we were a cigarette there would be a government health warning written down our legs. Say no to increased delivery spans, no to local agreements because if they suit RM they make them national agreements. I would also like to know why all of the information is coming through Dingo. Why the feck are we not receiving these direct from the horses mouth.

3 posties X 3.5 hr delivery span. 10.5hrs
2 posties X 5 hr delivery span. 10 hrs

1 worker can be given the boot while the other 2 posties will be shafted. :no no

Borrowed this from another thread but i think it sums up what to expect from "park and loop".
kello22 wrote
"As said before my office is doing 4 and a half hours park and loop.It doesn't work,i would say nearly all the office claim evey day(unless dim tries to stroke the ot out).
It was brought in and it allowed max of 2people off sick at once, couple of weeks ago there were 5 or 6 off,our 4 yes 4 managerswere all out until half 4.
It brought a smile to us all..We have cwu members and non members sticking each other in for stupid things like one wants a break now but the other wants finished.Every 1 is depressed in a bad way at our office. Union rep was susp at the time, and the 2 people that worked with the deal have left with evr!!!At least they are okay eh??/kello22"

That's local agreements in a nutshell. :arrrghhh

Who will actually vote on all of this new delivery model ? Processing, distribution etc. ain't gonna give a stuff about D2D,longer deliveries, later start times and later Saturdays. If they outweigh the number of delivery members we will be stuffed! Any vote concerning delivery issues only should be voted on by those on delivery and nobody else.

Maybe they should start giving a stuff - RM aren't going to go home happy when they've finished with deliveries.....network and processing will be next & some of them could end up being offered a choice of resigning from RM or start using a delivery pouch - and no one in deliveries will have any energy left to help them out.
