Pay Deal

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

No But with all the walks going they'll probably reduce our pay instead of increasing it

From what i've heard/remember,it was all done in the last deal so it will automatically be put in this year.
But don't quote me,but we're not negotiating so it could be right.
And as for what it is God only knows.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

 Any progress made between the CWU and RM in negotiations e.g. Last years pay deal of 2.9 % being imposed by the employer, until the union carried out an in house ballot and got a big result, which forced RM to backdown and award a just rise. Plus the threat of balloting the Network and Area drivers which resulted in a deal after a long period of no negotiation. Means in the present climate RM are looking for confrontation for the forseeable future. I think RM see's the workforce as weak and divided and is looking to take advantage of us. Be prepared for a big punch-up. :evil/mad :evil/mad :evil/mad

The union have submitted its pay claim to royal mail and are asking for a pay settlement that achives the uk average, dont ask me what that is i havent a clue i hope its about £50,000 a year :Very Happy any increase to flowthrough to all allowances + increase in all overtime and s/a rates :Very Happy. They also require the introduction of a 35 HOUR WEEK due to the investment in automation :Applause Further improvements in A/L, reintroduction of sick pay for new entrants and more family friendly polices :Very Happy THIS IS MORE LIKE IT.They also want a new effciency agreement sorted out to deal with royal mails plans on savings and a review on RRIS payments. There are a couple of other issues that they want sorting out as well but these are the juicy bits :dance WHAT DO YOU THINK PEOPLE ?

Royal Mail Pay April '07 - Latest

On Wednesday 7th March the National Officers met with senior managers from Royal Mail and received a more in depth presentation on Royal Mail’s business plan over the next 4 years. This covered the following issues:-
• An overview of Royal Mail’s Letters Strategy for delivery, processing, collections and automation plans.
• An overview of the company’s commercial strategy including the development of new products and services.
• A presentation on the company’s financial position.
• A presentation on how competition and regulation is impacting on the business.
The meeting also covered pay, efficiency and Royal Mail’s budget/savings targets. The Union has again stressed the urgency to move forward with our April Pay Claim, conclude outstanding elements of the current Efficiency scheme and reach an agreement that will reward CWU members when the current scheme runs out on the 1st April.
The Union has submitted its Pay Claim in the traditional way. This reflects existing Union policies and will need to be looked at in the context of the current business environment.
Further meetings are being arranged for next week. Pensions and phantom shares will be dealt with separately on a group wide basis.
A National Briefing for reps is being held on Thursday the 22nd March 2007 to discuss the pay claim.

ROYAL MAIL LETTERS APRIL 07 PAY/EFFICIENCY

We met Royal Mail on Friday 16th March, to scope the parameters of the next pay deal and discuss our claim in more detail.

During the meeting Royal Mail again set out the wider business context and claimed that current pay levels were between 21% and 28% above that of our competitors, whilst productivity was way behind. Royal Mail also set out its cost/revenue challenges for the duration of their 4 to 5 year Business Plan.

The Union responded by stating we did not accept the comparators they put forward and reminded them of the commitments they have made on pay, investing in people and raising the value and status of a postal workers job. We also discussed the outstanding efficiency issues and the urgent need to reach a new agreement from April 07 onwards.

Early last week, the Union were provided with figures of £150,000 in respect of the savings from the third quarter and a further £5 million due to be consolidated from the lump sums as the current position regarding the National Efficiency Pot. Royal Mail confirmed these figures only included savings supported by Local Agreements and excluded all savings arising from managerial Executive Action.

We have expressed, in the strongest possible terms, that Royal Mail’s position on Pay and Efficiency is completely unacceptable. We have advised Royal Mail the Union will not co-operate on further efficiency revisions until we resolve our Pay Settlement and an Efficiency Agreement on how members will be rewarded from April.

As a result Royal Mail said they would provide the Union with further information this week on the overall amount of monies saved by the business since the scheme commenced. We hope following receipt of this documentation that we will soon be able to finalise the joint audit process.

The meeting concluded with Royal Mail saying they wanted to reach an agreement with the Union on this year’s Pay and a new Efficiency deal over the next 3 weeks. Given the urgency of the situation both parties have agreed to meet on Friday 23rd March and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the following week. Once these meetings have taken place a further report will be sent to Branches in due course.

Yours sincerely

Dave Ward

Deputy General Secretary (P)
