IMO Hi viz are a waste of time for delivery posties. They would have been more relevant back in the days of 2 deliveries when it was possible to go out before the sun had risen. Nowadays i dont leave the office till at least 10 o`clock and walking around with a massive red HCT im as visible as im gonna get. This is the H&S gestapo gone mad.Judging by your post you wear one on the way to the pub or cinema too?

That's a good point. Why isn't it a freephone number?linkinpark wrote: So we have to pay out of our own pocket with our phone bill to help them out? Dont think so. Tell em nothing and meet back at the DO to let your DOM sort them out and then cut off.
We seek him here, we seek him there
Those Frenchies seek him everywhere!
Is he in heaven? Or is he in hell?

we should not be travelling with ANY mail up front.slinger wrote:Bloke at work got pulled by them a while back for not wearing a RM jacket and thought he could of been some random dude! LOL
They also pulled a couple of lads I heard a while back and they got bollocked for having more than one bundle of mail in the front of their vans even though the van was locked!
i saw a bloke last saturday with the passenger seat chocka with work,
i said "dont drive around like that youre leaving yourself wide open"
he said "its ok its for the next area"
i says " FFS you MIGHT get away with the next delivery point but the next f*cking area"
the response was and i quote " if i do the job properly i cant get it done, even though they're paying me extended to complete the delivery"
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

Re: IB pulled me today
hat the feck has H&S got to do with the IB? What excactly is their remit? Judging by the thread they appear to be nothing more than wannabe coppers, that if they cant catch anyone nicking or putting mail at risk, try to justify their existance by picking people up for minor uniform infringements. They want to try popping to my office where pouches of mail shoved under a bush is considered a safe drop.Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:POSTMAN wrote:Regaring the IB,they were probably doing something in that area and decided to do spot checks while they were there.
It happenend to me last year. They were at my office for something, later on in the day they pulled a few of us.
Never seen them since.
Been to us 3 times in last 18 months, and pulled about 4 people everytime, and the common thing is that ive been pulled on each occasion, but the other people were different each time.

seen this with another union , basically it's to soften people up and knock the stuffing out of them for privatisation and obviously create a culture of fear and yes there's a union bashing agenda . Very deliberate - you'd see staff pulled up on something and nowt really .
Happened in one area , the old hard but fair ex military managers were replaced by very ambitious graduates - sounds familiar
There was a local union rep that we knew from grades conferences that had a union career ahead of him that suddenly went very quiet
It was very , very top heavy with managers - Chiefs and Indians + Jobs for the boys and all that , desperately trying to justify their jobs ; going to pathetic lengths to do so - familiar
With a regimented RM management style , they have to pull out the stops to impress . Everything is done for a reason , no matter how nonsensical

Re: IB pulled me today
funniest IB story ever to happen to me.
the joker that covered my duty on my rotating day off had been thieving, not known at the time i was also under suspicion until they could determine if it was me or infact him.
IB sat in a car watching me deliver for well over an hour, actually moved his car up the road at one point.
eventually i thought enoughs enough and walked over, tapped the window, he puts down his newspaper and sheepishy rolls down the window.
I then tell him not to worry if i disapear for a few minutes ive got a high rise to do and that i come out the back way incase he misses me!!
he politly said thanks and left the area
