Can't you get a firemans key,i know some offices have them,don't need to buzz then.

I read something from the sops that the manager himself showed me during the summer which stated that you only buzz people you had an item that required a signature for and/or they requested you buzz them. Also we are not supposed to carry keys/use them to gain access.

I write out a note and stick it on the outside door, letting the folks know I can't get in, and mail will be returned to sender----- this has always led to the lock being left of the latch as it were, and i reset it on the way out.-

Some in my area have a Tradesman Bell or a code that can be entered to allow access at certain times.

Some progress has been made and we finally managed to get the information we needed out of the manager. Obvious why he's been holding it back, they simply haven't been following the rules and doing what they are supposed to be doing whilst demanding that I do what I am supposed to do! 
Turns out they should have been writing letters and visiting the sites of the problem buildings after I first notified them about it. That was way back in May/June or something!
Anyway, I'll be writing out a list of the problem buildings(again!), the manager will visit them and try to talk with the occupants, write letters about the problem then the occupants have 2 weeks to get the doors sorted, if they are not sorted by the end of those 2 weeks the mail for the relevant buildings will be held in the office for them to collect.
In the meantime I am supposed to buzz everyone I have mail for, if I still don't get access for 3 consecutive days the mail gets returned to sender. I suggested I photocopy my own sheets about the problem doors and put them up etc as suggested here, but I was told to keep it official and wait for their letters to be ready.
Funny how we get grilled over the smallest thing yet these so called managers are able to continually do nothing on there part to fix key problems with deliveries. I've found that the only way to get them to do anything which actually helps you do your job properly is to be awkward about details, never work past your time and continually nag them about it. They always try and get at you in some way, but I'm a stubborn little bastid!
So, if you have any doors which are continually off when you attempt delivery, urge your manager to do his part to help get it sorted.

The flats that I used to do had a trades button which gave access between 7-11 after that if they where late you were Told to buzz anyone who had mail.
That did not last long as the full time person before I took over left the office between 8-9 I left the office between 10:30-11:30. So for first month never delivered much to flats. It all went on my day off as they where earlier. I aproached housing association dirctly after RM did nowt to ease the situation and they quickly changed the trade button to 7-2 meaning I had access everyday unless extremely busy.
