I'm running the risk of upsetting you POSTMAN but i can't see how the CWU can ask the rest of the membership to increase their delivery span to 4hrs to protect fulltime jobs and allow you to keep yours with the use of P/T staff.
I may be missing the point and feel free to correct me if i am.

I agree the only way to stop all this crap about longer walk spans is to do the job properly.
I know for a fact that every minute of my 8 hours is accounted for.
6.15 start, sorting and throwing of until 8.50. 40mins M/R.Tying up until 10.
Then 4 hours on the streets,so can anyone tell me where i've got time to do more.
Although nobody wants redundancies, i think the CWU's stance is very worrying.
I feel longer walks will lead to a massive rise in work related injuries.How will that will good for anybody?

Walk sequencing will as they say will cut down your indoor work there,that is where the problem is for all.

But 4 hours on the road is a long time and is not conducive too all practical problems arising from lack of facilities and fatigue!.

Well worth staying up to watch on iPlayer, but did anyone else see the TNT Mail centre, with the sign and the slogan on the wall ( "TNT Mail - Sure we can" ) and just want to add some graffitti ( "but we f*cking won't!" )

According to the trial office results walk sequenced mail saves a massive 5-7 mins prep time per walk. Walk sequencing does not increase the amount of mech mail arriving at your DO, it simply means that part of what you formerly got as walksorted is now sequenced. One further point of interest is that it appears that the operational tolerances of the new sequencing machines are lower than the sorting machines that feed them.As a result a percentage of the sorted mail fed into the sequencing machines is rejected and will arrive at your DO as mixed trays requiring inward sorting. Be interested to hear from any compact operators the rough % of rejections.
Bearing in mind the above it is hard to see where the indoor savings come from

Surprised but pleased that at long last The B.B.C are trying to put acrooss our point of view. Half an hour wasn.t really long enough to hi light every thing, but hopefully the tide will turn, and the Public will see who is really at fault.As another poster said, it would be good ifthey could have brought out the B/H we have to put up with.
Am waiting with glee on any follow up newspaper reports!!
