I really enjoyed watching that, was far more balanced than I was expecting, especially after reading the Daily Mail in the office this morning

I thought the reporter did a good job, put pressure on Tolhurst who came across as the lying toerag we all know he is.

Well done to the postie and the union rep, they both came across as honest, hard working fellas just trying to do their job. They've done a lot of good for the image of the posties and the union.

Btw, that cow from Coventry is probably too lazy to get of her fat arse to answer the door anyway. I would love to be her postman tomorrow

Didn't your friend Tolhurst say something like "Mail is counted by machine, so figures must be accurate"?

In a past life I spent a year in the mails. statistics branch at head office, calculating the posting figures. As I remember the figures, they were sourced from FCT count which somebody told me was + or - 10%, meter postings counted once per year during the annual count week (Long reputed to be the quietest week of the year) and PPI postings sort of guess-timated to the nearest few thousand.

That was a few years ago so probably everything is probably more accurate now

I wish they had pushed the management's constant B&H of people a bit more. Most of us have never met Higson, Crozier or Tolhurst, but we have all met local managers and they are the face of Royal Mail and the goons to carry out the orders on its behalf. They're also the reason many people voted to strike. Still though, a good programme which put our side forward for a change. A pity they didn't drag Mandleson in front of the camera, but I suppose one slimy parasitical bag of shite representing Royal Mail was enough to have in a programme broadcast before the watershed.

I joined 3 months ago. Trying to do the job the best I can. No training, support or help in any way. The public thinks we are all lazy and do not value the service we provide, cannot see the point in doing this job; will leave as soon as I can. RM, as it is, will not survive another year.

Surprised but pleased that at long last The B.B.C are trying to put acrooss our point of view. Half an hour wasn.t really long enough to hi light every thing, but hopefully the tide will turn, and the Public will see who is really at fault.As another poster said, it would be good ifthey could have brought out the B/H we have to put up with.
Am waiting with glee on any follow up newspaper reports!!

Thought it was very good too. They should have had the marine carrying the 16kg bag like we do though, don't use trolleys at our office. Plus the round looked a lot flatter than the ones I cover.

Mandleson won't go on Panorama, there was a programme a while back where the reporter was literally chasing him up the road for an interview .

Have just watched on bbc i-player and thought it was a balanced piece of journalism,certainly would have liked a bit more on competition,DSA ,role of the regulator, Europe and B and H but you can't have everything .A very good job in half an hour.Well done BBC and well done to the postie for standing up for himself and us .

So the super fit marine couldn't do it.
He had no difficult mail, didn't have to knock on peoples doors and wait, and the weather conditions were very good with no rain or ice.
Also the threats of not completing a round were not discussed, wilful delay etc.
