About 13 million items of post are set to be handled by Royal Mail as the operator experiences its busiest day of the year.

Royal Mail predicted that many people would write Christmas cards over the weekend causing a flood of mail to be handled at the start of the week.

Their workload is expected to double the average daily postbag.

Glasgow Mail Centre, which processes all mail for the west of Scotland, will handle about 5.6 million items.

I think they missed a 0 in that 13,000,000 quote.

And typical of the mis mangament in my office, no Sunday staff, no extra staff in today :d'oh! they really couldn't run the proverbial :roll:
