Not due to MC staff being lazy, the FSMs and Tops2000 machines are supposed to also sort larger sized letters.mclovin wrote:Its letters in the Flat Sorting Machine due to idiotic managers or lazy MC staff, delete where applicable.PhilthyPhil wrote:The FSM puts them in the same position on every letter

Then why are there normal sized letters with the labels on them?baldrick wrote:Not due to MC staff being lazy, the FSMs and Tops2000 machines are supposed to also sort larger sized letters.mclovin wrote:Its letters in the Flat Sorting Machine due to idiotic managers or lazy MC staff, delete where applicable.PhilthyPhil wrote:The FSM puts them in the same position on every letter

Re: unfranked christmas mail
For the first day ever today I couldn't be bothered cancelling them as am sick of it. What's the point of modenisation and efficiency if we out on delivery have to pick up all the crap.
Life's only rosey if you make it that way...... There is life outside of Royal Mail you know!

I dont take notice of whether the stamps have been cancelled or not. I never have, and neither does anyone else in the office.

I also occasionally seen small letter sized jiffy bags with the Tops barcodes on them.DGP1 wrote:Then why are there normal sized letters with the labels on them?baldrick wrote:Not due to MC staff being lazy, the FSMs and Tops2000 machines are supposed to also sort larger sized letters.mclovin wrote:Its letters in the Flat Sorting Machine due to idiotic managers or lazy MC staff, delete where applicable.PhilthyPhil wrote:The FSM puts them in the same position on every letter

Re: unfranked christmas mail
The last couple of years have seen me crossing thru unmarked stamps, this year, to be honest dont have the time or inclination to do what should have been done. Must cost the business a packet if they are re-used, used to do it years ago whilst on YTS, lol, showing my age now!

This is what happens when you put letters through an FSM.
It's called a Flats Sorting Machine for a reason - It's supposed to sort Flats. As usual when our target oriented managers found out that it will read some letters they started piling them in. Result? What you DO guys have said and also massive headaches for the MC staff who have to manually sort the rejects. Tip a tray of rejects onto your frame and they topple all over the place.

Like Donk says, Managers shove them on as a way of boosting the throughput figures.DGP1 wrote:Then why are there normal sized letters with the labels on them?baldrick wrote:Not due to MC staff being lazy, the FSMs and Tops2000 machines are supposed to also sort larger sized letters.mclovin wrote:Its letters in the Flat Sorting Machine due to idiotic managers or lazy MC staff, delete where applicable.PhilthyPhil wrote:The FSM puts them in the same position on every letter
They are a pain for the MC manual sorters who have to peel off the stickers on the reject/overflow
items to be able to read and sort them.

Don't seem to be much point striking unfranked mail when you are required by law to deliver DSA mail for a loss
