It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Van duties
not going through every thread, however I have been made to interpret that Royal Mail have in princable agreed with the CWU to ban all cars being used on delivery (
about time too do I hear) however it seems that the sly little so un sos have used this pressure from the CWU and believe that if the business stop the use of bicycles as well then the dreaded VAN SHARING
will be interduced after christmas. Once the walk sequencing machines start working fully then the hour+ sorting is no longer required taking the delivery to 4.5 hours.
Now as this is not my field but someone my be able to answer..I was always told that Health & Safety say that 3.5 hours delivery is set in stone due to fatigue and stuff (like I say not my field) so without Royal Mail reducing hours worked how do we continue with a 40 (48 whoever signed) hour week

Re: Van duties
As someone who is already prepping walk sequenced mail, i have to say it's debatable whether it saves you 20mins let alone an hour. If you already know your walk pretty well it isn't that much faster than normal prepping. plus only mail that is currently code sorted will be sequenced. you still get loads of un sequenced letters and flats. It obviously helps someone who is doing the walk blind more than a regular postie.wolfie citizen smith wrote:Once the walk sequencing machines start working fully then the hour+ sorting is no longer required taking the delivery to 4.5 hours.

That is exactly my experience of sequenced mail. Minimal prep time saving with the added pain of increased IPS, How about you?shrew1 wrote:As someone who is already prepping walk sequenced mail, i have to say it's debatable whether it saves you 20mins let alone an hour. Tell you something for nothing, if the CWU agrees to longer delivery spans it will hit the record for the fastest disappearing union in history.

The CWU will do what ever need's doing to make sure they keep the sub's rolling in. If that mean's you doing back braking walk's then so be it.BELIAL wrote:That is exactly my experience of sequenced mail. I think I agree with the sentiment behind that ,but that statement makes little sense.
If the leadership are only willing to negotiate a slowdown in the managed decline of our terms then in broad terms the membership will come to regard the union as ineffective and irrelevant , bye bye subs.
Maybe they would get more support if they aimed for concrete improvements like the 35hr week and 10% on the basic wage. I'd strike for months for that, much better to go on the offensive instead of all this defensive on the back foot rearguard action
Bye
