Turned up at 6 o'clock and he was NOT a happy man as to be expected.
Told me to be a man and get myself there, asked why I hadnt organised with anyone for a lift and why I wasnt there at 5 when the driver was there dropping off mail ( funnilly enough when I asked him on the saturday if they would be providing transport and he said no only a driver at 5 and ye dont want to go with him as youll be standing about with nothing to do and the canteen wont even be open - get yersel there ).
Told him I wasnt waiting around there for an hour myself ( all the other guys were all told to stay back at the DO over xmas ) and as for asking someone for a lift, I never see the few people who are going to the MC as I come in at my time whereas they come in early - he said I should grow up and that If he knew he was wanting a lift he would make sure he was in early to get it. I said not my problem its them who should have been coming in at my time and frankly with no car of my own, and no access to buses or trains it was their duty of care to get me there. I then ( knowingly ) asked him if I would need ID on arrival and he said ''well obviously! of course you will need ID''.
I said ''well I've not got any''
He said I did.
I told him I didnt have my ID card that was supposed to have been sent to me months ago ( I joined in August ).
He then opened his drawer and sure enough there it was.
I said 'has that been lying there for ages?!' to which he said 'eh no it came last week'
He then told a driver to take me up in a not so happy tone.
Heres the best part
When I got there they were telling everyone who didnt have their id card OR a letter from their DOM confirming they were doing xmas pressure to go back to their office and get it ( some over 10 miles away - I would have ''walked'' it there and back If I were them ). So if I hadnt gone to the office that morning I would have been sent back anyway thanks to the DOM keeping my id handily in his drawer.
Also, didnt actually get the induction dvd, health and safety talk etc till past half 7 - some who had arrived at 5 somethin were getting the same info in the same room at me and starting at the same time and yet I was expected to wait myself for what would have been 2 and a half hours?!
I've secured a run there and back from people at my office ( the ones I never got a chance to see before yesterday ) so looks like my managers off the hook - but being still on my trial period - at least its not more hassle for me.

Nice one
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
