After having my mail tampered with the first time and my Nephews birthday money taken from his card We thought it was a one off. A thieving posty letting the sides down. However, it has become apparant that this is a well organised scam as my daughters birthday cards ( concealed in a boring brown envelope and registered) have also fallen victim to the scam, only yesterday. Both cards torn open and the money taken out (40 quid) Then the thief has the balls to put the cards back into the brown envelope and send it merrily on its way...to ruin my daughters birthday. Shame on you.
Now I know that you will all be shouting "You shouldn't put money in the post" Well we did. and there was a time where we could trust the royal mail. We took the precautiuons of hiding the fact that they were cards and put it registered.
So before you all go shouting for more money why don't you sort out the dirt from royal mail and give us back a service that we expect...then you may just have more public support on your side.

I agree with Nelson, you need to do something about it, contact the manager at your local delivery office or contact Customer Services, who will contact the manager, he will then have to follow up the complaint which will lead to the Postie being interviewed concerning the missing items.
Please don't tar us all with the same brush. The majority of us are very honest, hard working people.
If they were sent registered a signature would have to be obtained. Go to the RM website, go to track and trace and check the signature. Then go to the local D.O and speak to the manager. He'll find out who's duty it is and deal with them accordingly. Also, you'll be liable for compensation. Get a form from the customer services
yes Nelson I am doing something about it. To make a further point which I may not have made clear in my last post, I certainly do not tar you all with the same brush. My postie couldn't be any more friendly and others in the past. I am pointing the finger at the sorting office bosses...do they really know what is going on? or who they are employing? I take it checks are done etc? As with all jobs there are the idiots that spoil it all for everyone else..but this has happened twice to me in under a year...so how big is the problem on a national scale??

This is the sort of response we were expecting....well listen up Nelson...it happened and i will get this investigated if it takes me all year.
Well first of all I sympathise with you, must be just horrible. The people you trusted, too!
The answer is, the respect must start at the top and permeate thru the entire organisation. Give us decent staff with decent attitudes, backed up by respectful management and not the do-it-all-in-no-minutes-for-less-money attitude that we face daily.

Janus.. Im Gutted for you and your little girl.. I know when People steal off of working class people it hurts everybody.. A crime has been commited and i hear your Points But the issues are with the ROYAL MAIL MANAGEMENT.. Yes there are scumbag posties who nick... And i feel they should be locked up full stop.. Ive said this in many posts on here.... It has given you and your family a very bad feeling about RM.. And rightly so... I would be just as mad. gutted and wanting justice for myself if it happened to me or family... I think and many more do the same.. That it is RM's lack of vetting and willingness to take any old rubbish in to do this job that WAS done by honest upstsanding working class people... Who looked after our own and our job.. We were proud to do this job... The Management have knocked all the pride out of us.. They call us over paid and under worked... They bully and harrass us in our places of work... Lie to us,, Lie to you the public... Just go and listen to any Alan Leighton Speech.. Or Adam Crozier.... They are not in this for the long hawl.. Just until they can get there pay off or golden hand shake.... As much as what has happened to you and your daughter is a crime... There is another crime of the RM Management on the people of this country as they dismantle a service that has been the best and cheapest in the world for 250 years..... We now have to work with suspected terrorist simpathisers.. Illigal Immagrants that steal and give out false ID... (As your find in a thread on this site.) Once a job of security and trust is being eroaded by RM and there lack of vetting and quality of people they employ... Its the people at the top we all need to pressure and bring this service back to the people of this Country.... Not let things like this with your mail happen again....

I was not directing my anger at loyal hard working posties who do a very good and thankless job. As i suspected..employing unknowns, lack of proper checks etc and allowing them to drag down the good name of RM. The whole thing is a disgrace.

I send cash in the post all the time. Never had it go missing once.
I don`t mean to say it doesn`t happen, there are bad apples everywhere. If someone deliberately sets out to use their employment in Royal Mail to steal, the only thing that can stop them is someone noticing exactly what is happening. I can however guarantee that if I were to see a thief in our DO I would have no problem reporting it to the Investigation Branch. I`d probably also make sure he got a kicking, people like that deserve nothing better.
I`d imagine a theiving posties excuse for an opened envelope would either be "the envelope must have come loose in transit" or "that`s the way it was when I first seen it". When I see an open piece of mail the first thing I do is show the Office Manager. It won`t help the mail in any way, but the manager can at least pursue it to the local Mail Centre.
What I would recommend doing in future would be to not send cash in a paper envelope, get a sealed plastic one. These never become unstuck like paper ones, and if it had been tampered with it would be obvious.
Thankfully it is only a very, very small percentage of the workforce in general that is inclined to act this way. I`d imagine it happens in every trade or occupation there is. Keep your local Delivery Office, and Customer Services up to date with what is going on, and please don`t let this rest. Weeding out these thieves is essential to improving our service, and would stop me from having to defend my posties so much.

Janus... If i could get you your Money and faith back in to RM and more importantly US the workers i would do all i could and more... There is every reason why you are mad and upset over the treatment of your mail by Thieves and scum..... All i ask for is to back the strike.. We have all voted democraticly and over 77% demended RM come round the table and negotiate over our future and all the Publics Mail service... The top people of RM forget you and us the people that use this service... N the crap they spout over "customers getting what they want." & "this is a great place to work ." WHAT RUBBISH.. They just dont care.. The amount of delay they,, RM management do with the mail would discust you as it does us posties that see it go on...
