The Indoor workload tool is flawed in a number of ways , as it is based on 100 BSi and industiral engineers always say that to achieve 100 BSi you have to have a full head of work and be properly motivated. Not many are that in this industry at the moment.

BTW geo-route was enforced on our unit through EA.It failed badly.
I myself although not having a van at the time received half an industrial estate simply bolted to my delivery.

Fishtank LTBs have gone out . Motions have been carried at Conference over the use of indoor workload and it was in the Geo Route training session.
For the record :
The CWU does not recognise Royal Mail"s indoor workload tool, there is no national agreement.
A terms of referenve with the CWU was agreed in July 2005 based on trials from Chesterfield and Sailsbury but Royal Mail made significant changes and implemented them without agreement.
The indoor workload tool uses the MIST system in mail centres to record traffic. The indoor workload tool allows fr local office variables , ie the office layout , distances travelled in the office , the number of walks etc.
It then calculates how many hours should be spent on indoor sorting and prep for the whole office not for indivuduals.
BSI is short for British Standard Insitute which ,put at its simplest terms is a national standard that is observed and measured, it is a recognised pace of work , set by a fully qualified , competent worker who is motivated and working at a brisk business like pace in the ideal working conditions. Not many of them places in Royal Mail.

Dingo we are being strung along if we agree to clear the backlog and do a deal around the pressure then Royal mail will play hard ball as they will have no incentive to put back any new four day week structure's.
The joint statement clearly says that we need to put in a quick pragmatic soloution where implemented change is not working, we have twenty casuals a day in plus a 35k backlog yet we are told no short term soloution can be based on a four day week. They will make hours avalible that may take you up to a ten hour day but they refuse to accept that may be a stop gap soloution. They are spending more than when we were on a four day week and still not moving the work.
In effect every body that worked rest days are still on strike, and those that had plans based around rest days are being forced to use up leave or to go sick.
They finally made us a christmas and clear up offer this week, only because they dont wont to be embaressed at Thursday's meeting. The offer is half what last years was, and even when you add in the backlog offer which is ment to start wenesday it still fails to be as much as we recived for xmas 2008.
And if they were serious why has it taken two weeks since the joint statement to arrange a meeting. i suppose it took that long to book a hotel so they could try to impress our reps, if they were serious we would have met in a mail center as soon as possible last week!
Untill we get firm dates for new family frendly attendance patterns we should not be co-operating with tidying up there mess.

Of course we can all have one! it is a pressure deal that is half the hours offered last year. oh and would we mind doing a few ten hour days to clear the backlog caused by putting us on 8 hour days when we were on 10 hour days and clearing.

Regional manager says they got it wrong it Wimbledon??? Funny, i had a meeting with my Putney MP recently, and she showed me a letter from Crozier himself who stated that the changes in Wimbledon were basically perfect but it was the distruptive staff causing the problem!!!!! I did tell her he was lying though and i will be telling her about the apology too.
