Thats the rule for my D.O simply because they have to be scanned via a PDA, which then gets the delivery status of the item into the system quicker which is part of RM sales pitch I belive.

Re: Expecting the impossible
Same with us, now, prior to this we didn't scan tracked items suitable for a walk, the park and loop, bulk and rural van drivers take all tracked items now and all are scanned every day.. Just as an aside has anybody got a shortage/excess of PDAs?Big Daz wrote:custard wrote:we never had any driver only rule for tracked items?

I had to drive round another road to get to the back of the house, climb over the fence, and shin up the steel stanchion to get the sodding parcel off the roof - did I mention it was also pouring down. More haste less speed I suppose.
Btw thanks for introducing me to a new word. Why use 'support-pole' when 'stanchion' will do!!

Not all of them say that, the one I had recently having the instrution "Please Leave In Secure Porch" which is an impossibility.DGP1 wrote:I believe the tracked items says - Please leave out of sight and under cover (or words to that effect) so that means to me, sheds, boiler houses, porches, recycling bins (as long as they're not out for collection) and neighbours, just as long as you P739 them as to where you've left them.

Re: Expecting the impossible
What happens is, whilst still in the DO he scans the item, then slings it onto your pile of parcels for you to deliver (or not, as the case may be). Is that supposed to be how it works?POSTMAN wrote:Not sure how your drivers ar getting away with this as they have to be scanned (PDA)whether they were delivered or not. Then the notice vanished and the driver started handing them over willy-nilly. And not just the small ones I might add.
Sometimes though you get small ones that can go through the letter box, every now and then i will scan it and give it to my walker.
I'm guessing your office must be failing with tracked big time.
Also, I remember when they first started on with these and we got told that they absolutley, categorically, MUST be delivered on the first attempt as otherwise we were contractually obliged to re-deliver the item the following day before 7AM.

Re: Expecting the impossible
All tracked items are received in the DO and scanned as Ready for Delivery on the DO Indoor setting on the Locker PDA - it should then be scanned on Delivery on the PDA out on that walk - some items require a signature so how does he get round that issue?Wiggins79 wrote:What happens is, whilst still in the DO he scans the item, then slings it onto your pile of parcels for you to deliver (or not, as the case may be). Re: Expecting the impossible
Ask you managers for the tracked league tables of your area,to see how you're doing.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
