Working Towards a Cure:Motor Neurone Disease.

Post by Mike Findley »

Hi Everyone, I just joined today, just a quick CV;- Tooting SDO 1965-1978, Redcar DO 1978 - 1986, Branch Chair & Secretary at both Officers, Full-Time Official in the NE from 1986 including Divisional Rep 1992 to 1999 when I took EVR, Cleveland Amal Retired Members Rep 1999 to 2005 including RMAC.

In June 2005 I was diagnosed with the incurable Motor Neurone Disease which affects my shoulders & arms, I was given 2 to 5 years, but there is now a possibility that I may have 10 to 15 years because I'm an awkward bugger being very positive. Along with family & friends I launched my own 'Fund' in September 2005 to raise awareness and funds for MND in the hope a cure can be found, to date we have raised over £15,000.

Please take time to look at my website www.mikefindleymndfund.com and spread the word. Any help or support would be appreciated by making donations individually or as a Branch, maybe by organising various sponsored events etc.

Many thanks

Made it a sticky for you Mike.
Best of luck with it mate.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Hi Mike,
Sorry to here about you, my life long mate Andy Wadge was diagnosed in 1996 and fought it for 4 years.
We've been fund raising for 10 years now and raised over £100,000 by just doing a sponsered walk and raffles.
Raising awareness is difficult against the 'main' charities but we do our bit,and our local MP ,Vincent Cable, also has a big input by bringing the funding issues up in parliament.

regards
Andy
