Thanks for this, seems logical to wear what works best, not what RM say...
But, any good reports on the new shoes, CAT's or similar etc? Feedback locally isn't very favourable so far.

If you have to buy shoes because you can not wear RM ones and you get a doctors note to prove this then you can also claim up to £30 from your Dom towards the cost of any footwear you have to buy.I was told this by our area H/S rep a while back when he was on a visit to our office.Ive not done it myself as i wear RM shoes.POSTMAN wrote:Yes you can,if you and your doctor feel you can't wear hard shoes.Thunderthighs wrote:Was wearing some trainers for indoor work, with orthotics inside to stop foot pain. These were £60 jobbies.
Advised by a guy who just did HS course to wear work shoes, unless I had Dr's note etc. Did so, and got foot pain again!
So...what's this Dr's note gimmick? Can I really get one, or if I get injured will RM laugh at it?

Funny that the magnums stopped my foot pain after I'd been wearing trainers for my first twelve weeks.Thunderthighs wrote:Was wearing some trainers for indoor work, with orthotics inside to stop foot pain. These were £60 jobbies.

Therein lies a good question.
As a newbie you cannot get uniform including shoes for twelve weeks, so if you fall over and break a toe, foot, leg in those first twelve weeks will RM pay you while you are off ?

Reports in my office suggest the CAT's fit fine and grip well, they just are not waterproof. I have just ordered some myself.Thunderthighs wrote:Thanks for this, seems logical to wear what works best, not what RM say...

I only wear my RM shirt and RM Hi-Vis. My shorts, Boots/Trainers, Waterproofs, Hoodie and whatever else I wear are my own. The RM stuff is s**t and if I have to do a 4 hour walk every day then I want to be comfortable.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
