Jones Lang LaSalle appointed to dispose of Royal Mail's 200,000 sq ft Coventry Mail Centre

Jones Lang LaSalle has been appointed by Royal Mail to dispose of its Coventry Mail Centre and Lower Ford Street car park. The Mail Centre on Bishop Street in Coventry extends to over 1.6 acres and comprises some 200,000 sq ft of mail-sorting accommodation with 18ft (5m) clear height on three floors.
An additional 0.6 acre site located on nearby Lower Ford Street, which is currently used for parking, is available separately or can be purchased with the Bishop Street premises.

Jonathan Fear from Jones Lang LaSalle's Birmingham office, said: "We anticipate the successful buyer of this unique site, which lends itself to a variety of uses, subject to planning consent, will have some innovative ideas for conversion or re-development."

The disposal of its Bishop Street and Lower Ford Street sites form part of Royal Mail's rationalisation plans for a number of similar UK operations. Two new delivery offices are being built by Royal Mail in Coventry to accommodate some of the people from the Bishop Street Mail Centre.

Split the DO section into two parts in North and South I think, and moved Mail Centre Section to Northampton.

It is my understanding,Coventry ,Northampton and Milton Keynes(the fastest growing City in the UK) with massive housing developments being planned for the whole Region ,are all being replaced with 1 small mail center ppurpose built at 15a M1 Swan valley .This before it opens has officialy been declared to small for all the operations its needed to do.

Early next year ,massive redunancies at all 3 sites will happen,Great!
