It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Any agreement documents for the rest of us?
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

A lot of doom on here and not surprised frankly with the poor communication from the CWU. However at the moment we are in the middle of a complicated and difficult process and though I may be seen as an "Apologist" for the CWU I don't think we have any other option than waiting to see what the final agreement is.
If its as bad as the rumours say (D2Ds increase but lose payment, longer walking spans, longer deliveries, 35 hour week but breaks unpaid) then I will question my commitment to the CWU. However, I do know for a certainty that we would be in a much worse position without the Union than we are with.

Exactly, if your roof springs a leak you don't have a tantrum and declare that you are finished with houses. Far more sensible to get busy and replace the crap tiles
Bye

Re: London interim agreement joint statement doc
There seems to be a marked lack of input from the usual source but it would appear that some areas, and I am not being specific here, have actually not moved at all since the SDD, it's as though the 2007 agreement never existed, so to say there may well be two agreements would not be too far from the truth. It isn't just the roof leaking it's the fabric of the whole building that requires a major overhaul.

Re: London interim agreement joint statement doc
I do think guys and i've posted it before, and i did not get a reply from anyone, but as a division there is no doubt that London is one of the strongest, that is why we at one time did not get shafted by the pay&mod deal.
You guys did so you have to question your divisions and branches.
They tried to shaft us and we went out as a division,i have also spoken to those in the know at Scotland and although they started the strikes, back in march i think, they could not get a whole branch on board let alone a division. It was touch and go whether certain offices would get a yes vote. And some votes were very close.
With regards to now and the 'London interim agreement',i only have half an idea as to why it was just us that has this new so called deal, they are really trying to shaft us hense what has happened.
As for other areas, the last word we got on here was that reports from other branches and divisions was that things were ok-ish.With regards to the interim agrement that is.
Individual members on here know different,so,what are your branches/divisions doing about it?

Re: London interim agreement joint statement doc
I have to say I'm a bit confused(wouldn't be the first time) what exactly do people dislike about the above document ? what is in it that is unfair to the rest of the country ? everything contained in it is available to every part of the country, can someone tell me what is not applicable elsewhere

Re: London interim agreement joint statement doc
OK sorry been busy in hours and hours of meetings but lets get things out in the open , yes there is a joint statement which does not change the interim agreement but addresses some of the key issues which were roadblocks in London in preventing progress.
This does not mean London has a different agreement. It simply means that acas will support the progess in London as the interim agreement allows for and can happen elsewhere if there are still significant problems in other areas with the terms of the agreement.
From 5th November when the agreement was struck until this Monday the dispute was still being waged in London, no agreements had been reached under 2.3 which was the only division where this had not been reached. On Monday the National Parties agreed this Joint statement.
Yesterday the divisonal reps and the regional directors met all day once again with acas and for the first time in 3 weeks made some progress.
Today the the divional reps, area reps and local reps along with acas and two Royal mail directors and DSMs and DOMs met on the following offices N1 , SW16 , SW19 and SE1. The delivery director made it clear that due to the strike Royal Mail had imposed change and in his words had messed up in a big way and offered an apology and said he wanted to now reach acceptable agreements in all offices where revisons were implemented by executive action. The test will be if at local level this gets done. This director also stated that 4 day weeks can return providing they have workload aliengment.
In London we have agreed for all local reps and local managers where revisons have been imposed to get into immediate negotations in line with 2.3 of the interim agreement and that no impediments will be in place from either side to prevent genuine negotations taking place with the aim of reaching agreements.
Up to now Royal Mail have centrally refused to allow managers to agree resigns , earning issues or less than 5 day weeks. These barriers have been removed.
Now some have asked why London needed a joint statement. Well all the divisonal reps around the UK have to supply regular reports from all branch"s to CWU HQ with regards to what problems there are. Now whilst some areas within divisons are having a degree of issues the vast majority by these reports are not.
Remember there were 680 revisons put into Royal Mail in 2009 only 440 were by executive action. So that meant 240 were agreed against the unions policy of no savings. So the interim agreement allow for all of these 680 to dealt with under 2.3. The ones which had been agreed would have a post implmentation review.
The remaining 440 which had been imposed were now able to negotaite in line with 2,3. Out of that 440 London has 153 offices which have been imposed.
A signifcant number of revisons which have been imposed outside London have had resolutions, whereas up to today none in London have which is why the Joint statement has come out.
Hopefully this will change by Monday when we have out first weekly review with acas.
I fully understand that a number of London members who use this site are angry at the lack of informantion and progress and I along with others take it on the chin. We have spent days in meetings trying to move these things forward and I have to say I am more confident today that we protentially can then I have been but the true test is whether in local talks tomorrow , Friday and Monday that we actually achieve agreements. Thats the only test we can have.
With regards to the National negotations there is a formal review tomorrow and I think not all is well and not going to plan.
So in conclusion this is not a London agreement which stiches others up simply a recogniton when you have had a 20 week dispute that it was always going to be hard to move things on and therefore acas have been used to assist this progress and the bullet points in number 1 have just been clairified further as they are all in the interim agreement but were being used as barriers in the London talks by management.
