Managers:How low can you get.
Guy at an office we share the building with has just lost his brother.
The area Manager stated that he could only get the day off for the funeral if he could cover his walk.
Needless to say it was sorted by our rep after a lot of running around and phone calls ect
To say we were gobsmaked is an understatement.
To say we then got angry about it is putting it midly.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

STRESS OPTION?
JUST GET DOWN TO YOUR GP AND GET HIM TO SIGN YOU OFF WITH DEPRESSION OR STRESS. MY MUM DIED BACK IN 2000, THEN IT WAS 'TAKE AS LONG AS YOU NEED'. I CAME BACK NEXT DAY COZ WORKING TOOK MY MIND OF THE PAIN, AND THE JOB WAS WORTH DOING, IT DIDNT KILL YOU MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY. AND YOU HAD TIME TO TALK TO MATES. NOW . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . WELL YOU ALL KNOW THE REST.

When my dad died, I was told by a screw I was entitled to three days, but found out it was a week. Recently a screws dad passed away (fine union man he was too) and the screw got three weeks leave.
