Conferences

Post by strangler »

Are there any views on here about the various CWU conferences? I know that in addition to the main conference there is a womens conference and a black workers conference. Does anyone on here attend any of these and what`s your opinion. Do they serve a useful purpose?

This is probably controversial but as we are supposed to be equal ie; colour, creed, race, sexual orientation, male, female why have all these different conferences.!

Agreed evilc. Have often wondered why these are held, apart from any costs involved surely one conference is enough...

No , in my opinion they only serve to reinforce the notion of difference. A postalworker is a postalworker , one conference for ALL.

How much do these conferences cost the union?! Our money should be spent representing ALL members!

YOU FORGOT TO MENTION THE GAY AND LESBIAN CONF,YOUH CONF AND
DIABILATY CONF.
YES THIS WAS BOUGHT UP AT THE ANNUAL CONF THAT THESE SEP CONF COULD BE
PUT TOGETHER ,BUT THE MOTION GOT DEFEATED.I AGREE IF WE ARE SUPPOSE TO
BE ALL ONE THEN WHY HAVE ALL THE XTRA COST OF THESE CONFS.
I AGREE HVAE ONE OR CRAP THE LOT AND SPEND THE MONEY ON OTHER
IMPORTANT ISSUES WHICH RELATE TO THE MEMBERS NEEDS.

I am also of the opinion that it unjustly makes the so called minority factions of the CWU stick out like a sore thumb.
