ROYAL MAIL DISPUTE – UPDATE

Further to LTB 10040/09, the Postal Executive met yesterday to consider the outcome of the formal review meeting on Thursday 26th November and also to assess the overall situation relating to the Interim Agreement.

The Postal Executive considered reports covering the following:-

- Summary documents from Royal Mail Regional Managers and CWU Divisional Representatives outlining progress that has been made in resolving local disputes.

- A report on discipline cases arising from the dispute.

- A joint statement resolving issues in London and ensuring that Royal Mail London Region complies with the full terms of the Interim Agreement.

- A report and action points covering the national key principles and national negotiations.

On the basis of the aforementioned reports the Postal Executive unanimously agreed that it was essential to continue negotiations in line with the independent process and try to make significant progress by early December as set out in the Interim Agreement.

The Postal Executive agreed to meet again next Monday to review the situation.

Round and round and round we go , this is getting ridiculous , where is the detail about what has been talked about , i am losing any faith i had in this union very quickly and talking to colleagues so are they . We are the membership we have a right to know whats going on or whats been agreed with management

I think even the Moderates (myself included) are getting disillusioned and frankly pissed off. We seem to be getting the flack from all sides, the business, the press and the public but we are still not getting the communication and back up from the Union that we deserve.

I don't want a bullet point presentation that shows every little move forward by Royal Mail but I certainly want more meat on the bones than 4 sub paragraphs that had zero detail at all. What I would have liked is confirmation that we can go back to 4 day weeks if we want, that imposed duties can now be repicked by the tried and tested method, etc, not what reports they considered. That may be good for the PEC but its useless and does not help the members at all.

How can Reps at DOs and MCs keep members informed and in the picture or even keep the support going for IA with such a lack of detail or information.

The thing which is disturbing is London seems to the only problem in the country. Looks like RM are going to achieve a divide and conquer. I don't think many people will walkout for London anymore. Blame the union.

That update was the biggest peice of non information ive ever had the misfortune to read.

On the basis of what I have seen thus far I most certainly will not be seeking re-election as CWU IR Rep at my DO!

I, along with many other Reps, worked bloody hard to get people on board and all for what?

I had questions fired at me from all sides this morning wanting to know what the PEC decision was and on what criteria they had reached it. In reply I told them that CWU were to release the information in full today.

What do I see instead ... a summary about Reports! ffs!!!!!!

Come on CWU treat your membership with the dignity and respect they deserve and release all the information in full and let us make our own judgement on what we see before us. Much is made of the lack of trust and faith in the way RM run the business - at this point in time the very same accusation can be laid at the feet of CWU HQ in its management of the dispute and subsequent behaviour.

I totally agree with you TBT, I feel disillusioned and extremely pissed off with HQ. If we were called out again I was not going attend the picket line as I feel HQ have let me down and now know we are going to be stitched up again. Come on CWU this is not just a London problem!

Yesterday BD did you not say "wait for the FULL and frank update" from the Union - well you've just had it. I take some flack from those who would support the union through thick and thin - but there has to come a point when you say "Hey! enough is enough". We pay our subs to them and they should look to see that throughout the length and breadth of this country the members are well served. I have stated time and time again I have no wish to represent anyone but I'll be buggered if I'm going to pay for what I'm getting.

As for full, I simply took in good faith that it would be a full update as that was the word used by Lovejoy to describe the update that would be coming. Im sure LJ took in good faith when he was told a full update would be coming.

I have a very trusting nature and like to have faith untill proven otherwise, which in this case has happened.

Got to agree with most of what has been said, that was a pretty piss poor LTB, I could of made that up, just as easily.
I've asked our DOM when we'll be reviewing our crap revision, and the duties that have been put in with no thoughts of how they will be completed in time. Was told tough s**t, so I thought at least we would announce more strikes at least, to try and get us into talking about reversing some of the dire changes we've had pressed on us.
I really am starting to lose faith in the CWU and the PEC, it's hard enough trying to get people to have anything or listen to what we try and put over to them.
We're just being s**t on from a great height from everyone, management will go in even harder, members will be even less willing to strike or even try and stand up for themselves.
