I must say that really is akin to hoping to win the lottery - the Government is on the side of Royal Mail, and to quote a reliable source on here - "Brendan Barber was the voice of the Government at the table" - soooooo those are two reasons to think that the political pressure would not be aimed at Royal Mail but at the leadership of the CWU - if that pressure is not already evident.

dv i think we all know the talks are a smoke screen, every time you or any other members point out the union failings we get "what would it be like without us", that and angry responses to fair questions,and you are quite right to liken some of the union answers to political mumbo jumbo,we are entitled to answers and we should get them

Which will mean all the ips work you will have in your office is machine reects , packets and flats. Once the 40% of the work arrives then this work can then be prepped but it wont be arriving till in most cases till after 9 in the morning.

So lets examine if you lose a big potion of your ips say an hours work, then you have not got 40% of your prep till after 9 then tell me what solutions you have for maintiainig full time jobs.

Sounds to me like its time to revert back to 2 deliveries Just think how happy the customers would be, getting all their important mail at the start of the day

Up my road and wrangled very mature debate asking when I last done a walk . Does that mean I cant have an opinion , because if so when was the last time you negotiated a deal if you havent does it mean that you cant comment on the deal ? Of course it dont.

Now Dvbuk I have always stated that the interim agreement had all the right words the question was whether Royal Mail were going to keep to them. I have seen the Divsional reports from all parts of the UK and it is a mixed bag , some are saying they have reached agreement on 2,3 and some have put duties back. But equally there are a number where no progress has been made and further attacks have taken place. On the national negotations very little progress has been made.

Look Dvbuk, me and you will never agree on things , and really I should not raise to the bait . I have also reviewed what others wrote when the strikes were called off and a lot said that the union had surrenderws and agreed to no strike before chirstmas. Funny thing is now some of those same people are arguing against going out on strike before christmas !

It really is a mixed up world .

But I can also have an opinion and ask questions even if I no longer work for RM or pay(waste) my money with the CWU....

At least I walk the walk and talk the talk.... I will be representing an ex member in court today because he has been abandoned by the CWU...what a f****k surprise...

Unless RM have stopped delivering to me, I am sure I fall into that category.

No anyone can form an opinion on anything. However, to argue from a position on strength and knowledge especially in a work related matter is surely the best position.

How can Officers and Full time reps really understand the concerns of their own members when they are only getting them second hand from a vocal or active minority. Hence my suggestion that Union Offices and Senior reps should do at a minimum 1 day per year on a delivery and 1 day a year in an Mail Centre, it would also have the added benefit of faces becoming known and members feeling more in touch with the CWUs hierarchy. Mind you cant see Billy doing a full days delivery work these days, or even Alan Johnson.

I have never argued against going out on strike before christmas,simply warned against the dangers,These dangers are real dingo and cannot be ignored.This union is far more important than you,me,the PEC or any individual.
I think most members can appreciate the difference between continuing the strikes at the beginning of November with strong support from members and re-instating the strikes after 3 weeks of virtual silence from the CWU in the hope that that support has not evaporated.
I will ask you one question if i may.

I was told today that they are close to doing a deal for London, If this is true and all that PEC are worried about is London and not the rest of the country then they will have sunk to a new low in my eye's.
Here's the text i got from someone who is in the Know.

What we need is solidarity - does that sound familiar - it should do because the Londoners on here spouted it often enough and I really would like to see a FULL and OPEN disclosure of what is on the table - and if there is a seperate deal, it'd better be a good one because this is going to have to last them a lifetime - at least my lifetime.

It would seem that we no longer have to worry about RM dividing us, we can manage that quite nicely on our own. Every problem/issue we have had with the interim agreement that we pass up to division gets watered down.

It seems to me any "deal" for london is to assist with overcoming the local difficuties they are having and nothing to do with the nitty gritty phase 4 stuff that is 2 years behind schedule which will apply to all of us.

If that is the case then one would assume that "deal" or something similar will be usd every where else that has the same problems as London.

What I want to know is whats going with monthly pay, thats a question that is asked a lot in my D.O, no incentive and the members will vote no to monthly pay. If there is a incentive then a yes vote will be considered.

I do dreadfully apolgise for making this forum aware that monthly pay is taked about a lot by CWU members in my D.O and phase 3 like it or loath it is being followed by the managers at my D.O. As for phase 4 its so long overdue its been forgotten to the point that mbrs did not have a clue what phase 4 was or that it even existed, I rectified that by placing a copy of phase 4 on every single frame.

Members are concerned that they will be left without pay for 4weeks if monthly pay is introduced.

The other big question from my D.O is are we going back on strike?

And like you a lack of info on CWU website has been noticed by mbrs in my D.O
