peejay14 wrote:If you are indeed a manager, Night tonic, as many on here assume you are, then you are not helping your own cause either. Your attitude, displayed in your posts, will get us nowhere either. The management must hear the concerns of the work force, and vice versa of course. Then hopefully, after ACAS has brought the children back from their naughty corners, an agreement can be made that rescues our reputation as the best and most trusted.

There just seem to be so many hurdles in the way, guys. Competition rules, government betrayal, poor quality footwear, rusty bikes, pension inequalities, transport, web sites, aches and pains... ...

Will striking solve all our problems or just add to them? Is it possible to squeeze all the contributions on a board such as this onto placards and banners? No. Does anybody seriously choose strike over work without good reason? No. But surely if there are good reasons for working, then they must be put before reasons for striking. Let's use our voices and not our ballots to help the situation we find ourselves in. Let's not lose out ourselves in a battle that clearly we have no effective say in anyway. Problems aren't resolved by walking away from them, that is not the sum effort of all our skills and attributes, and not the best way to show to those we would like the support of that we care and that we are trying our level best.

I'm all for making a fuss, but one that will keep the focus on us and not surgically remove us from the process, ie asking us to wait outside while behind closed doors our futures are rewritten. I say take it to the management in a constructive way, together, united as one (the only way to do that would seem to be through the CWU), and work through the crisis sensibly and steadily. Together we can achieve anything. The management would be more afraid (though that is their flaw, they need a healthy respect not fear) of a work force committed to doing things properly that stayed strong and didn't shy away from standing up for and working towards their targets. We are an easier target out on the picket line, but in the office a determined and resolute work force is a different proposition all together.

The management want a work force of yes-men and women that does whatever it asks, no questions returned. The management doesn't want a work force out on strike, but at least when we are out there we are open to attack and the management have a problem that they can manipulate and, well, manage. The management really doesn't want an angry and determined work force that refuses to go away and keeps at them with fair opposition and constructive criticism, since such a challenge to any notions they have of having it all their own way would make things a lot more interesting in the office for everyone. The office would be a more dynamic, a more electric, a more object driven, a more goal orientated, a more scientific, a more informed, a more rational, and a more equal playing field. With results that staff, management and customers could all have trust in, and with a more rigorous culture of getting the job done, I'm sure that we would all regain our confidence in Royal Mail.

I'd much rather be there than where we are just now, and where we just passed through, because I do not know where we are going. It's never to late.

you've clearly ( or maybe still are) from an office environment.
I used to work with people who spoke that corporate language - 360 degree feedback, hit the ground running etc.

If you're not on a wind up then cut out the corporate crap and people might even take you seriously.
Spot on :Applause - the irony is that there was best selling books like B/S Bingo -

There might be a niche / market for PJ to do motivational speeches for office workers / sales staff ( unfortunately this is RM - you might as well be on another planet  - and there's bonus & cut crazed managers with unworkable computer programmes that are doing their very best to try & leave this one )

. I believe :lfo used to / still does them as a " guru " -it's all mid 90's though :hmmmm . RM's managers can be even further behind .

Rite PJ your so full of guff im adding you to my foes list so i dont have to read ( That i have chosen to read and enjoyed replying to) your self riteous and blinkered posts.

You make us sound like were a bunch of lazy so and so,s who have taken it lightly to strike.

You make your posts sound as tho we are the problem. Its pathetic for you to have this view and shows to me you have been in the job for less than a month,if it is any longer i would be flabbergasted. Do you walk around your office with ear defenders on and blinkers.

You my friend and i dont care if it gets me a ban are like a DOM you have to be holding the views you have ,and no i dont respect your views others might on this site and thats fine.

Clap trap springs to mind and you still didnt answer my previous post the long drawn out one,but then again when you hit a dom with the same sort of reply they clam up and have to ring the dsm. Read my previous post then ring him up and ask HIM for a reply.

And yes i will have my valium sandwich now please.

Of course he isn't a DOM.

And do you choose to ignore everyone who doesn't agree with your point of view? Not everyone within RM is as unhappy as you, and their point of view (and vote) is every bit as valid as yours.

i dont get peejays post
its like he is in an office or he is a postman who can fit in more work.

im sure if i had an easy walk and finnished an hour early id agree with you that they could add some more delivery points no problemo.

er but what about those who are already stacked up?
what about those who are reserves who are naturally less quick in prepping already heavy walks compared to a regular walkman?

these are the people that have been bullied mainly
there is no way any of those will trust royal mail in whats coming next.

only people with easy walks who finish early are gonna be happy.

its people like you who have killed the job.
you took advantage and now have other peoples jobs on your hands.

Smudger83 so far all your posts seem to have consisted of "!","!!","???" and "could everybody stop moaning please"
This is fine but could you maybe try something new for a change, maybe explain WHY we should be more positive.
The fact that you still enjoy your job is great....for you.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

When peejay first came on this site, he was all "Oh, I'm just going to work until I dont like it anymore then I'll be off".
Now he's all " we must all work harder and longer for the sake of the company".
What's he going to be next month ?
Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

Irrelevant.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
