Re: What is the correct walking speed on delivery?
I finish well within my time, go home and put me feet up as I have put in the effort and deserve to be there.
Should my walk get walk tested I shall revert back to snail pace, if its good enough for them.....

not so daft is he , you're doing lapsing which is saying your duty is too small please give me more, out before 9 , let me guess you get in early and take no break ......... only a matter of time before another walk gets lapsed and more hours taken from the office and guess who'll realise they've shot themselves in the foot.mclovin wrote:One of the fella's is in his 50's but has always walked ridiculously slow, the other lad is in his 30's.
While the older fella will do his lapsing 95% of the time, the younger lad rarely ever did it, to the point where he was getting out just before 9 (paid until 2) and still couldnt/wouldnt take his bit extra. He lives on his delivery and knows loads of people who he will stop and chat to endlessly then return to walking at snails pace.

What do you class as over speaking and chatting? I can spend 15-20 minutes per day chatting to my customers. It is called good manners and being polite. Are you perchance one of the new breed of posties? Rush around with barely a grunt to your customers? I'm not having a go, I'm just curious.DaveF14 wrote: Mid 40s.
Claim overtime.
Finish after their time on a regular basis.
No mendical problems that i khow have. No wait. There is one. They both suffer from over speaking and chatting to customers. And both suffer from to much tea and biscuits cause their lazy bastards!
You also have to remember that we each work at different speeds, I walk quite fast, but at a pace I can maintain for my whole delivery, every day. Why should it concern you if someone works slower than you, do you have to pick up extra work?

Seems to me you get rewarded for being sluggish and lazy (calls taken off, no lapsing, extended OT), yet you get slated for being efficient, as well as punished (calls added, lapsing, no OT).
This company and the people running it, are fookin backward.

Re: What is the correct walking speed on delivery?
is it me reading this wrong , the quicker you get back means no lapsing ?DaveF14 wrote:Them for walking slow and taking the piss mate. That is the problem. We wouldnt have to do all this lapsing and bigger duties if everyone worked to a good standard. There are rounds in my office where there are people who are slow, on the smallest rounds and come back later than others. If you put someone else on it that is quicker and better than you will realise that no lapsing would be required.

Back on a serious note. Whatever speed you walk RM will say you can go quicker. Therefore walk slow and they make you go quicker they think they have won when you are now only walking at a normal speed!
Life's only rosey if you make it that way...... There is life outside of Royal Mail you know!

RM i think want us to walk at 4 mph. There was a article not to long ago about how people should be able to walk at the speed no problems (some expert) but the last sentence did read "Posties do carry heavy bags though".

But they will not go out and test your walk, it will be run through the Pegasus software, and irrespective of how fast you think you are, the program will reach its own conclusion...mainly that your walk needs more calls, and you are not working for the hours you are being paid.

Good luck with that, but I think you'll find it tough to convince your DIM that all of a sudden you'll be making it back at the office at 3.00, rather than 2.00, he could make out you're on a go-slow. Me, I copped myself on ages ago, and now nobody hardly remembers a time when I made more than a half hour of time during a week, let alone a day.mclovin wrote:I finish well within my time, go home and put me feet up as I have put in the effort and deserve to be there.

Duties already been through Pegasus, that was BEFORE more calls were added due to new houses being built on my duty.dropbag_clone wrote:Like I said, I aint doing another call until my walk gets tested, then and only then will I walk slow
