later starting hours
In WTL today it was announced to us that letters are in the post giving us FOUR weeks notice before all 5 o'clockers at our place have to start at 6:15, Even though the majority wanted to keep 5 starts and the bullshit excuse about vans only been allowed to travel at 56mph was the reason given.
w*****s..... not only do they want to give us a shite pay deal, I'm now going to have to drop my early morning allowance and probably have to drop some hours on the afternoons when childcare is an issue.
Our manager knew f**k all but what was written in front of him and said untill he sees the guidelines he can't comment any further or make plans for the guys that need to finish before 2:15
Is this been implemented everywhere????

I'm in York matey
We were told that when the guidelines are in the dums possesion then anyone with issues stated previously (a dum came round a few weeks back asking for comments and views on late starts, we were told then that it's only an idea in the pipeline!!) will be spoken to one by one, for everyone else it's 'TOUGH' and thats a quote
Bastards, This may change a few strike breakers opinions as everyone left pissed off!!!!

Whitetrash get onto your Area rep - I think you may be in same area as me and our area has decided that if one office gets forced to go to later starts then a ballot will be taken.

we were told by our dum that it has got to come in by august 12 or 13 at the very latest.
we have all but 4 signed a petition against it and our union rep has sent a letter of disagreement into the dumand area people.
at a time when we are supposedly fighting off the competition how can it be good for us and our customers to deliver the mail even later.

This is happening EVERYWHERE and if it's not down anybodys way at the mo it soon will be!
This is part of the strings we're striking for.
My area is being balloted for our own IA.
I suspect other areas will follow.
Your Area reps need to know everything that is going on.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Stupid strike breakers at our office are complaining about the later start times. The rest of us have pointed out that these are the strings to the pay deal. And part of what were striking for.But guess what.Yes the silly buggers are still going to come in on friday. How do you get through to these people ?

had the stage 2 disagreement heard on monday. moved to stage 3. Our divisional rep won't touch them until the dispute is resolved. DUM can't force in by exec action either cos the IR framework hasn't been exhausted. (exec action can only be used once stage 3 has been heard)
Looks like lots of area ballots for more action coming up then. Will RM ever learn

Tell them to sod off! Its been going in Runcorn since October. 05.00 to 06.30 just because some nugget of a screw told the rep, who believed it, that the vans would be arriving later. All the work is there and we had no need to change starting times at all. They've got people coming in at 04.30 on S/A to sort and put the mail out. We were told by the rep that there was no point in voting to keep the 05.00 starts, but there is every point. More and more people are realising they've voted for a pay cut and have less of a weekend due to these later start times. Fight it, and don't believe any propaganda you're read or might see about Runcorn being happy with late start times. Apart from the screws, the rep and a few habitual drunks, no one wants them now.

I went to a meeting at the CWU office in Bristol and we were told not to get involved with any discussions with our dum about early starts as this is one of the strings that has yet to be resolved, but this has not stopped our dum from skulking around the office, asking individuals if starting earlier would cause problems for them. IE: do they have childcare, second jobs etc...I can't think why he did'nt ask me..?

:lfo This was briefed in the DE Area today informing us all that we will be starting at either 0600 or 0615, because of the late vans next year.
The date that they are looking at is around 13th August for implementation.
Information has been sent out to Delivery Offices informing them that there is no agreement to do this and its part of the phoney pay deal that they have offered.
Idiots when will they never learn that we are not mugs and wont be taken for a ride!!!!!!!!
Oh yes at the WTL Sessions the managers have dangled the carrot of saying " oh you will keep your allowances for up to 3 years" Big deal what happens then OH YEA WE ALL HAVE A PAY CUT!!!!!!!!
