Re: Sure we can
PJ I have no doubt your posts are very ill thought up.
At first I got to the part that said TNT, is 'Sure we can' then I dropped off to sleep.
When I awoke I gave your post the benefit of the doubt and boy o boy how wrong I was.
You mention people up and down the land losing there jobs. Don’t you understand YET why we took the decision to take I/A.
Don’t you realise that the future of R/M is less man power; less F/T jobs more P/T jobs and bigger walks with less pay. We are fighting to protect jobs for the future WHY DON’T YOU GET THAT FFS.
You mention the ETHOS of TNT please tell me what working conditions TNT workers have. Please can you also tell me what protection these TNT workers have? I will save you the time and effort to think. They have no writes there treated like shite there pay is shite and you expect us to adhere to there motto.
Please don’t take offence to this but quite frankly your posts are getting rather annoying now .The things you are starting to put up are bizarre.
Why do you think ALL OUR COMPETITORS are jealous of us? Because we the work force make them jealous as we approach our job in a very professional manner.
We take the s**t R/M throws at us dusts ourselves down and get on with a very physical demanding job.
Have you ever stood up for yourself in this life PJ or have you and do you always let people beat you down with a stick. Well unfortunately for you PJ the majority of the work force have had a gut full and we will be heard. Don’t worry PJ what ever we the fighters get out of this dispute you also will benefit. But you go bury your head in the sand and when it’s all over we will tap you on the bum and let you know it’s safe to pull your head out.
We will always be the national postal service .No other company, competitor has our infrastructure ,that has been built up over many many years .If we give in without a fight its going to end up in the hands of our competitors. Shall we see then if you’re still spouting about ETHOS? You have not witnessed the decline of this service over the years like many of us on here have and for this reason we will make a stand to defend our future.
Have you ever heard the old saying if it isn’t broken well we weren’t broken but we are now. It shall be us the work force that make R/M realise this and we will fix what they have broken.
POWER TO THE WORKERS

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Sure we can
Firstly although its unlikely that I will always agree with Peejay’s posts I do think they present a different angle of royal mail and are enthusiastically drafted if a little too long. They certainly open up the debate and get people posting which can only be a good thing.
I used to be proud to be a postman and I still am, maybe more so as ive aged.. What has changed for me is not so much my attitude to work but the demoralising long term effect in witnessing the decline of the business as a whole. For this I blame the lack of any real long term leadership and investment for the past ten years.
As for working harder I thought we already were anyway? Absorbing extra work on top of a four hour delivery walking 10 miles up and down hills is enough for me.

Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

peejay is known as a lapdog worker and only willing to do more than he's paid for and of course tman likes that type of work ethos as he's of the same school of thought both like to be troden down by the 'master' . It's attempts to sway others to this school of thought that just reminds one of the fluffy sides veiw point as royal fails lapdogs as well

Re: Sure we can
I can't help it. Maybe it's because I'm relatively new to the company, and I have all the enthusiasm of a new employee who is listening to the company with ears undimmed by experience, eyes that perceive the challenges ahead, and hands that are open to agreement. We are not like lemmings, and my evaluation of the situation is as valid as anyone's.
I did say that it was unnecessary to read my posts if you were looking for any input on job focussed matters, or on how to continue along the path chosen by the 'Yes - for strike' vote.
Let me put myself a different way...
I, for one (on here, at least, it seems) am prepared to take the company at their word and work with them, as per the terms of my contract. By way of accepting their offer of work, I will honour my agreement with them for as long as I believe that it is sustainable and holds its promises. Those of you currently at the point of industrial action can rightly claim that you share my commitment to the company, and are acting out of a sense of injustice and betrayal by the company, who you genuinely wish to serve, because as you see it the company has let you down and is no longer honouring its part of the contract you also agreed to when you first started.
I have not reached that stage yet, it is honestly premature for me to be turning to the company and saying - 'wtf?' Can none of my detractors appreciate that! Well, I won't be making the mistakes made by those who now feel that they are left with no option but to withdraw their labour in order to make an impact. I hope that my career does not follow that faltering path. I shall be engaging with my manager even more, now that I see the state of relations between the management and those in whose steps I am following, in the hope that our respect remains mutual - a vital pre-requisite to the sustainability of any agreement - and that our working relationship remains healthy. I will be endeavouring to learn from the mistakes of those in the company who have brought it to this brink.
I do hope for the best in the upcoming talks, and I hope that the 3rd party ACAS can get the company and its aggrieved work force back on terms of agreement. I was delighted when the union instructed the picket lines to return to work, and I take that as a positive sign. Right now, despite our differences in opinion (and long may these last), we ARE actually all working together, and long may that last too !

I have not reached that stage yet

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I cant help it. maybe its because i wasn't born yesterday
i know when enough is enough.i have the stamina of a survivor but i listen very carefully to what is said and my experience has sharpened my perception especially in relation to lies and spin .
i can perceive a challenge but unlike you i'm keeping my hands in my pocket . You want to shake hands with Crozier? then remember to count your fingers afterwards .
cant be bothered to parody your whole rambling monologue although i did picture a robot when i read the bit about "i wish to serve"
One person being enthusiastic cant make a difference because of the way royal mail policy is being applied.
area wide exec action makes it as inflexible as the tide coming in .
Meanwhile feel free to do your king Canute impression,

And there it lies.
We must all do what we believe is right, and respect each other for it. If everyone joined the union and struck as one, then before long even that alliance would deviate and reform, as is the pattern of human behaviour.
Exploring diversity brings us together (and didn’t they win Britain’s Got Talent too?) When it shines through the cloud, you see the beauty of colours blended; it illuminates and it shows the way: light, the miracle of hope.
Dear me.

PJ keeps mentioning TNT as this blueprint / yardstick - the laughable irony is that TNT in Holland are regarded as a joke
RM say the Dutch Blueprint is " adapted " for the UK , well if the computer says Yes - it must be true , Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy exist as well
Deliberate managed decline , those senior managers don't give a flying one , they'd have sold their arses in Woolworth's window for a tenner .
