I think you MIGHT be mistaken about the attendance procedure thing, can anyone clarify this?DOM wrote:I think if you answer yes to "Are you on the attendance procedure?" on the transfer request form then thats the end of of the application but if you go down the route that I suggested then a good word from your current DOM could get round this. It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I would say thats it`s very rare these days that when someone leaves the `Office` and if it`s a FULL TIME job, that the `vacancy` is not reduced to 30Hrs or less.POSTMAN wrote:DOM wrote: If you have an office in mind, get in touch with the DOM there. Just curious why not full time, are you saying that all new entrants/transfers ect will not be full time.
Surely if a full timer leaves and a full timer wants it then that's it.
Or is this RMs policy now?
Also one of my guys have been waiting for months and went down this route after i got some numbers off someone on here with no luck.

Transfer to another office
I just feel that my Ass DOM picks on me, he moves me to the driving duty and i was only meant to be moved as last option as agreed with area manager, he wont help me with odd days, when i was off sick last time as it got to me the way he was treating me always moving me when other drivers knew it but just didnt move them he said to me he didnt believe that was the reason i was off sick, he had to apologise to me and i had it witnessed..he has got at me for not wearing royal mail trousers, got at me for not doing endorsements that wernt even mine as i had just returned from leave.. wud this be good enough reason to get moved? its bothering me. as in moved to another office?

I was getting a lot of grief from a manager just before we moved house.madelin4 wrote:I just feel that my Ass DOM picks on me, he moves me to the driving duty and i was only meant to be moved as last option as agreed with area manager, he wont help me with odd days, when i was off sick last time as it got to me the way he was treating me always moving me when other drivers knew it but just didnt move them he said to me he didnt believe that was the reason i was off sick, he had to apologise to me and i had it witnessed..he has got at me for not wearing royal mail trousers, got at me for not doing endorsements that wernt even mine as i had just returned from leave.. wud this be good enough reason to get moved? its bothering me. as in moved to another office?
I asked the union rep if she knew of any chance of a transfer. A few weeks later one of the managers came up to me and said that there was a transfer available. It meant a reduction from 28 hours to 27.5.
I accepted the transfer and have never looked back.
There are still some crap managers but I don't feel the same level of bullying and I feel much better about going to work each day.
Ask your union rep (or the area rep), you'll have nothing to lose (and maybe everything to gain)

Royal Mail don't really have a transfer system, it's a lie. A mate of mine spent 2 years trying to get one and eventually had to resign. Then the recruitment system went stupid and now it's all done online (great advert for a postal company!)
As much as he wanted to stay with RM he can't now. He applies to every job available, pointing out his experiance but to no avail.

Re: Transfer to another office
I recently rang the HR dept in Chesterfield and was told that I would need to request a form from my line manager to complete.
I'm currently working in the North East, on a 20 odd hour PT contract with my own duty, but want to relocate to the South West. If I was to transfer I could really do with a few more hours as other wise I would be on the bones of my bum. Have worked for RM for just over 3 years with a clean record.
Just after a bit of info/feedback before I take the plunge in speaking to my manager, who I do get on with quite well.
Cheers
